Hello everyone,

I just bought The Settlers 4 Gold and started a single player game on the map meteor.
To begin with, the game starts normally with the intro, the menu works well and I can start playing on the map.
After some time, maybe 3 or 4 hours, the game crashes with the error message "s4_main.exe - Fatal error Fatal error: Exception 0xc0000005 at 0x00049d3ca!"

I tried a lot of things that are written here in the forum or I found with Google, but I found no solution. Maybe Windows 11 is the problem or I missed some workaround, I don't know.

Now I'm just frustrated because in the past I only played The Settlers 1 & 2 and now I'm starting to like The Settlers 4 very much.

So can anybody please help me?
Maybe something like a Checklist what you all have done to get it working.

In the attachment you can find a savegame. On my PC the game crashs in a few minutes, after the yellow troops in the east took two small tower and attacked a third one.

My System:

Ok, just got it working!

Installed from gog onilne.

went to support from gog galaxy

Did those from support:

Crashing in general
Game does not launch - Intel 10th gen CPU or newer
Screen freezes after launch (Intel HD graphics issue)
Disabling Windows 10 Game DVR
Deactivating Game Mode on Windows 10 with Creators update
DirectX file not found (d3dx9_43.dll etc.)
Laptops equipped with two graphics devices


Also did this: with compatibilitiy windows XP SP3 and let this app run as admin

those two las to both exes S4.exe and S4_main.exe

RUN THE GAME FROM LINK INSIDE INSTALATION FOLDER "Launch The Settlers 4 Gold"


this runs "D:\GOG\Settlers 4 Gold\Exe\S4_Main.exe"
