So, as the title suggests, I'm wondering if buying Settlers III from here will allow me to play the game on Windows 7 PCs? I have the game on disc, but haven't been able to play it for ages because it just refuses to work properly on anything newer than my old Windows XP computer that I rarely use for anything any longer. I've tried installing the discs on my laptop, but it just refuses to work. I can get to the main menu screen, but nothing happens if I try to start a game.

So, will it be worth the $10 for me to buy the game here? Can I play it on my laptop, or on my new custom PC with Windows 7 on it? I'd love to be able to play the game again, even if it means having to pay for it again.

I had no trouble to run it on my Windows 7 PC. So it should work if you meet the requirements on the store page.

I just finished playing a game of Settlers 3 on my windows 7 64 bit premium.

I had been able to get the disks to work on vista and 7 via downloading a patch.

I bought it again because this is better done that what I was able to accomplish plus it has the expansion which I did not have.

What patch did you download?

When I try to play the game on ANY non-4:3 monitor the game starts acting up, there is severely glitched gfx drawing at the top 1/3 and the bottom 1/3 of the screen etc.

Both on my laptop and my main workstation. Only my very old machine (XP, 4:3 monitor) works properly.
