Hey folks

I'm trying to transport tools from my main settlement over to the island. I've built a trade ship but can't figure out how to move stuff across the sea. I've googled for tips and seen that I need to build a trade post. However, I can't figure out how to do this. Can't find trade post under any of the building options. Are they not available at this stage? Help please, it's driving my crazy!

The "trade post" is actually called landing dock - it's in the last category of buildings (the one with residences and temples). Build one on the island from which you want to send the goods. Everything else is configured by using the menu when the landing dock is selected (starting point - needs to be close to the landing dock; end point - somewhere near the coast of the other island. Note: Unloading does not need a landing dock, only loading - so the choice of words is perhaps a bit confusing).
Awesome, thanks a lot! I kept mistaking that for the shipyard! :-S
I cannot get the procedure to work on this. I left click on the landing dock and am following the instructions under the Tips & Tricks. but the line of red pegs that is supposed to show up doesn't display. Maybe I'm just missing something. How exactly do you designate a start point and end point? Can someone walk me through this step-by-step for what I am supposed to do to transport tools from the main settlement to the island outpost? Thanks..
@dlimbach

IIRC, I haven't played the game for a few months, so bar with me on this...

Once you have the Landing Zone/Trading thing built. You need a few donkeys, Then you go and take some pioneers and get them to dig up some land, then you transports your tools By clicking on transport goods and placing it on where you want to build up same thing goes for ships. Your Donkeys should then start transporting the stuff over....
Wow, really? I didn't see anything like that in the rules anywhere. I'll try it and let you know. Thanks.
Donkeys are only needed to transport goods outside your own territory over land. They are loaded at the marketplace (which functions basically as a landing dock for land trade), but have absolutely nothing to do with sea trade/transport - your carriers will transport the goods to the landing dock since it is necessarily inside your own territory. (Actually, you'll probably never need donkeys in the single player.)

Pioneers, which would have to be shipped via ferry, are needed if you need to claim neutral (or unguarded enemy) land. Obviously, you'll want to make sure you own the land you ship goods to, but you are totally free to unload on neutral or even enemy territory. So this is not a reason why you have a problem with setting up trade routes. Are you actually in the third of the original Roman campaign? If so, you already start with an outpost on the big continent so no need for pioneers at this stage.
I think it may be the second of the Roman campaign installments (not counting the tutorial). I cleared the first island in the previous scenario and this scenario opens with a portion of the north shore explored and the outpost on the island with the pirates. I'm wondering now if I don't have enough carriers ... maybe I need to build another residence? I'm just wondering because when I click to Place Dock in the Landing Post menu, nothing happens. The goods aren't transported, no second jetty (in addition to the Shipyard jetty) appears and no sea route is plotted on the map.
Ah, success! I destroyed the Landing Post and rebuilt it further down the coast. Everything seems to be working as described in the rules now. So, either it WAS too close to the Shipyard, intervening land WAS in the way or a more direct line-of-sight was required to plot the trade path. At any rate, thanks to all for helping me out - I probably wouldn't have figured it out without you. Glad to see the community forums work. Thanks again.
YEAH!! finally able to transport goods to the other island thanks for that. Is there a limit to how far the trade route will reach? I want to reach the other end of the large island in campaign 3. also how do I create a way stop if I can't reach in one route? Thanks again SQS
