Hi, I installed the settlers III but I have a problem. Whenever I try to launch a map (single, campaign, tutorial) I get stuck on the loading screen. The game itself seems to work correctly because I can click on something and I hear all the sound, it's just like the loading screen just didn't disappear.
I can't find any similar issue on the internet, I tried to change the resolution and stuff but nothing helps.

Have the same problem. i get out of it after ctrl+alt+del and then going back into the game but it still does not respond to anything. at least i can see the little dudes but they dont do anything.
Same problem here. Whenever I start a map, the loading screen with the three helmets and in the upper left corner some weird graphics. It seems as if the map started completely distorted in this corner, which is about 5 x 5 cm small. When I use the arrow keys, it looks as if I am scrolling on this tiny map.
Same here. I see the small (tiny) screen in the top left corner and can scroll their but its not playable. The graphic driver is the newest I can get.
same here.
A friend of mine had the same issue and he was able to fix it by using DXGL. Might be worth giving it a try ;)
You can dowload it from here: www.williamfeely.info/wiki/DXGL
just add the executables S3.exe, S3_multi.exe and single.exe and it should work.

BTW: Got this idea from the settler 4 thread, where it can also fix a serious graphic bug.

"loading screen won't disappear" is a graphics driver bug which happens with some (usually old) drivers or corrupted driver installations. Solutions:

1. Install the latest INTEL/NVIDIA/ATI/AMD driver for your graphics card (check for the latest driver on the INTEL/NVIDIA/AMD website, as the PC/laptop/card manufacturers always offer outdated drivers!!!).
2. If you already have the latest INTEL/NVIDIA/ATI/AMD driver for your graphics card: uninstall it and install it again.
3. If points 1 and 2 do not help: you can try to switch the "Shadows" option in the Settlers 3 settings to the opposite option (this sometimes works, but in most cases not).

I'm running a Radeon HD 6470M from ATI Technologies so i went to their website and found some drivers appropriate for mine, but i'm not sure what to download... I get to pick between Catalyst Software Suite and Radeon Sofware Crimson Edition Beta...
What do i download...?
