Hi.

I'm always reading about how you should scroll or give commands when the game is paused.
Somehow that doesn't work for me at all.
When I press P to pause the game I can neither scroll nor give any commands at all.

Is there some setting I need to correct?
I hope you can help me. Thanks.

As far as I remember that's how the game works. If you pause it, the controls are disabled. Where did you read that you should scroll only while the game is paused? Can you provide a link?

I don't have a link right now. I read through so many instructions that I kind of lost track... :)

It was suggested more than once that you should/could use the time in pause mode e.g. to give commands to your settlers (especially in fights) or scroll the map after using some kind of revealing spell.

So that doesn't work with the controls disabled in pause mode, hence my question. I don't remember if controls have always been disabled in pause mode though but those tips made me think they haven't.

Yeah, maybe there are sites which suggest that (though I can not work out why they should do such a thing). But are you certain they were talking about Settlers 3 specifically? Because Settlers 3 always disables the commands when in pause. I played the game back when it first came onto the market. That was back in 1998 and subsequent years. The game behaved exactly such back in those days and that was even before the Gold edition.

Anyway, the way the game works I really see no need to pause the game for scrolling. Think about it for a moment: does it make sense to you to be able to give commands to settlers while paused?
