I don't quite get it....

Im playing the first mission and everythin gis going fine and then suddenly it seems im out of tools completely, no one wants to mine, and somehow no food is making it anywhere yet i have 10 fish places that say 100% and like 8 farms and their respective buildings that do as well?

I can't discover new metal either because the 6 geologists I had just up and dissapeared ( it says I have 0 now and I have no idea how to recruit more)

can anyone give me some idea as to where I'm going wrong?

I'm usually really damn good at strategy games even the especially hard ones... it just seems like im missing some crucial information somewhere that the tutorials didn't cover....

Like i have no idea wtf happened to my geologists or how to recruit more....

also.. do tools break overtime or something? i swear I lose them to nothing....

Disclaimer: I'm not sure exactly what you're doing and it was a long time ago I played this game now

If you're low on tools, perhaps it would be a good idea to start with a metalworks before using up all resources on the armory or similar. Set it to produce the things you need the most, probably hammers in the beginning.

As for your fish, do you see that they pick up fish, and then they transport it through the roads back to HQ?

When it comes to your farms, you need to turn the wheat into bread. Build a mill, a well and a bakery. Unless this is only in the later games, some types of mines prefer some types of food, but you can configure how much of each food type goes to which type of mines.

I don't know why your geologists disappeared, but generally you build a road to a mountain and don't raze the flag/road until the geologist is back.

I don't remember how to recruit more geologists but probably through some menu or through HQ or something. Remember that you need tools for that though.

Good luck, this game takes some time to understand if you haven't played the series before. I learnt it when I was a child, restarting over and over and just trying things.
Hey,

something weird must have happened. Tools don't break over time, they are permanent - unless the storehouse where you store them is razed or they may be lost during transit. For example, when a helper carries a tool from one flag to another and you remove the road or one of the flags, what the helper carried dissappears.

You can make more tools in metalworks - the worker produces a random tool with a percentage that is controllable via one of the menus in the menu screen. You can make a specific kind of tool if you turn down all the other tools to 0%, but remember to check on your stock over time or you'll end up with 20 shovels :). Geologists need hammers.

As for the food... I don't know. Check your roads, see if the network isn't disconnected. See if you have complete food chains - turn wheat into flour and flour with water into bread, etc. I believe this is covered in the tutorial so you likely have it right.

Finally, you don't recruit geologists, or any other kind of worker for that matter. Helpers (the guys that carry stuff around and you always have 100 of them in every storehouse) turn into workers when there's work for them and a tool is available. That means that if you have 2 geologists, 2 hammers (and helpers) and you call in a geogists on 4 locations, those two hammers will turn into geologists.

I don't know for sure what happened to your geologists, but I have a guess. When you have a stray worker (meaning he's not walking a path and he's not a scout or a geologist on a mission) somewhere too far from a storehouse, they browse around and will die after some time. You need to have a storehouse close by. My guess is you sent your geologists somewhere far away from your HQ, then razed the flag they were called to - I believe this aborts their mission (they become strays) - and they died because they were too far away from your HQ.

Hope that helps.
