the search-function doesn't seem to work, so I make a new thread. I just inslalled Settler 6 (heritage of Kings). But when I try to start, I just get the error-message, mentioned in the topic-title.

I have windows 10 64bit. (professional) Any suggestions/solutions?

die Such-Funktion scheint ohne Funktion zu sein, also hab ich einfach ein neues Thema gestartet. Gerade hab ich Siedler 6 (Aufstieg eines Königreichs) installiert. Wenn ich das aber starten will, erhalte ich nur die Fehlermeldung, die ich im Titel genannt habe.

Difficult to say. Haven't tried Settlers 6 on Windows 10 yet. But there seem to be others with similar issues. See here:

Thanks. Sadly., that didn't work. I get the same message. A friend of me just bought it at ubisoft, and can play it, so It seems, the problem isn't the OS.
Perhaps, I play with some of the settings of the display options mentioned in the link. (the options.ini was empty, btw.) And: no need to apologize for steam, I use this most of the time, I play games. especially, if a game has workshop-support. (This is the main reason, I buy a game at steam and not here...)

Danke. Leider hat das nicht funktioniert. Ein Kumpel von mir hat sich das Spiel gerade bei Ubisoft direkt geholt, Also scheint das Problem zumindest nicht am OS zu liegen.
Vielleicht spiele ich mit ein paar der Optionen herum, die im Link genannt sind. (die Options.ini war übrigens leer...) Und: kein Grund sich zu entschuldigen, wenn man auf Steam verlnkt. Ich nutze das hauptsächlich, wenn ich Spiele spiele. Vor allem, wenn diese workshop-support haben. Das ist auch der Hauptgrund, warum ich ein Spiel auf Steam kaufe, und nicht hier...

Problem is solved. It seems, the triber of my grafikcard had some error. I checked the settings of windows and got an error-crash, when I tried to check the native resolution of my monitor. A windows-reboot just solved everything.

Problem is gelöst. Es scheint, dass mein Grafikkarten-Treiber nicht richtig funktioniert hat. Ich bekam ein Fehler-crash, als ich versucht habe die Auflösungsoptionen von windows aufzurufen. Ein Reboot des Systems hat jedes Problem gelöst. ("ein reboot tut immer gut", leider kenn ich diese Redewendung nicht auf englisch...)

Okay, great that a reboot helped. Curious. For how long did you keep that machine running since the previous reboot?

Updating drivers is also good practise.

Die Übersetzung von "Ein Reboot tut immer gut"? Naja, vielleicht hilft Google Translate, aber ich kannte den Spruch jedenfalls nicht, dabei bin ich jetzt seit Ende der 80er bei den Computern dabei. Das englische Äquivalent wäre in etwa: "Have you tried turning it off and back on again?"
