In Settlers II 10 Anniversary edition...

I know the mouse wheel zooms the camera in and out.

However, is there anyway to adjust settings somewhere to get the camera to zoom out further?

I t feels like I get two or three building in view and spend more time zooming around.

Try using an resolution with a ratio of 4:3. The 16:9 resolutions actually limit the field of view.

That helps, thanks.

here are some pics illustrating the effect of 16:9 vs 4:3, both are 1440 high, the one is 2560 width vs the other 1920

How do I do that?

Just select a resolution with the aspect ratio of 4:3 (like 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960 etc.) in the graphic options.

No wonder MENSA never returns my calls. Thanks. :D
necro bump

did anyone find a solution which involves keeping your monitor res.

I am running ultrawide (21:9) which is perfect for games like S2 but the game is so zoomed in its unplayable.

My only way:
I created a custom resolution in the NVidia control panel for my Full HD monitor: 1440 x 1080p
The Settlers 2 - 10th Anniversary Edition (Die Siedler 2 - Die nächste Generation) shows all system resolution, including the new created custom one. So I select this resolution in the game.

Also I enabled the GPU scaling by keeping aspect ratio in the NVidia control panel. This 1440 x 1080p resolution needs no scaling on a Full HD monitor, but the GPU just adds black borders to the left and right. This keeps the native quality on the screen by allowing to see more of the game.

@silkp , @ShadowOwl , @lukaszthegreat , @Stefan1200 :
On ModDB you can find a fix for this problem.
Widescreen Fix for The Settlers II - 10th Anniversary

It makes zooming out possible on wide screen monitors.
