Am i the only one getting chrashes when i alt+tab?
As far as i can see, there is no option to run the game i windowed mode, so that is not an option :(

Are there any workarounds for this?

Perhaps it would be helpfull if you wrote which Settler game you are talking about.

E.g. I can alt+tab without problems while plaing The Settlers II Gold Edition (on Win10).
Oh, i thought it was posted under the game i entered the forum from.

Well it is about the Settlers: Rise of an empire - Gold edition.

Im running Windows 10, 64-bit.
O.K., sorry, but I cant test it myself. Perhaps some other guy/girl will show up and help you. Good luck!

Well, there is only one sub forum for all settlers games.

I just tested it with the main game, alt tabbing from main menu and first mission ingame does not crash my game. I'm using Win10 x64 too so that shouldnt be the problem. but there are win10 build version differences.. I'm on Build 14393 if thats any help.

are you playing on a notebook or desktop pc? for notebooks, maybe its a switchable graphics problem, for PC: what graphics card do you use? Nvidia (gtx960) is working fine (at least for me), cant say anything about AMD cards though. maybe (because why the heck not) try a gpu driver update.

edit: i can see that theres a big fat ugly "nvidia its meant to be played" icon in the option menu, so my guess is the game is better optimized for nvidia cards...

Does your image come back? My problem is that the game keeps running, but the screen is just black, with the music running, and a moveable mouse cursor.

My system is a desktop PC, this is what i rock:

Windows 10 Pro, build 14393.

Intel I7 6700k
Nvidia MSI GTX 1070 X
Asus Maximus VIII Hero
Crucial Ballistix 32GB RAM

The game is installed on a Samsung 840 SSD (a long with all my other games, wich have no problems)

I just tried un and installing my graphics driver, no luck.

Maybe a little late, but I had the same issue.
Today I found a fix, I noticed my resolution settings (1920x1080) were on 16 bit colors.
I selected that on accident because it was a the bottom (which I didn't expect).
After that I switched to 32 bit colors and all issues were fixed.
I could ALT+TAB as much as a I wanted :)

Hope it helps people in the future.

This was the exact issue, and it also made the game run so much better. The building doesn't feel as laggy, and the game doesn't randomly stutter/slow down.

Thank you so much :)
