I am wondering this as well. I'm going to try GOG galaxy because it seems that'll get the 2.0 update to the game right now

I'm pretty sure the current update is the so-called 2.0 update, despite not being labeled as such. If you look at the developer's site, their article on the update mentions a number of major features -1) reworking the world map and adding a random map generation function. 2) reworking weapon and equipment balance - nerfing crafted equipment and adding them as random drops. 3) Adding a 'postgame' when you do not enter the riftgate, alongside a number of megastructures with extreme upkeep costs. And finally, 4) Coop multiplayer.

All these features are in the game on the current version, even if it's not labeled as 2.0.

Edit: the update is now labeled as 2.something. It definitely wasn't yesterday. (it was 1.5something)

Can confirm that this is the case.
The newest version may be labeled 1.54958, but it's the 2.0 update.
As to why such weird numbering... who knows.

Where do you see this? Both gogdb lists the nevewst changebuild as 1.54958, offline installers have the same number and Main Menu of game has the even weirder exe 1092 Data: 718.
