I bought this on GOG instead of Steam, but I come to find out GOG doesn't have the Linux version? Steam says all platforms are supported. What gives?

I am able to run Penumbra Overture and Penumbra Black Plague under wine in Linux perfectly.

I am having problem with Penumbra Requiem though. It gets stuck at initial video, where the PC on a desk beeps. When I tested on Steam version in Mac OSX (I bought both Steam and gog versions), the video should continue widh sudden turning and someone hitting from behind, but the gog version under wine just gets stuck at the PC beeping.

I see that Steam has 20130108 update for Requiem, but I never tested Steam version on Linux.

Anyone knows how to get this fixed? Does gog version also have 20130108 update for Requiem?

Update:

I downloaded and installed Steam native Linux version and verify that it is version 1.1.1 dated 20140619. The Steam version works perfectly. It even loads the latest save from gog version, and I was able to continue both the Requiem without computer beep hang, and the Black Plague without the hang at "Warm in Here" in gog version.

The gog version hpl.log didn't show any version number, so I'm guessing it wasn't even 1.1 (dated 2010), but the original buggy one dated 2008.

I'm just peeved that I had to spend money to buy both Steam and gog version when I could have just stayed with Steam, and run native Linux to boot.
