It does not look like this to me. When it was released I could not grasp the hype - it looked like a very bland run-of-the-mill RPG. Now with all GOG reviews coming in all makes sense to me. This is why I like GOG - people here know what they are talking about and it is hard too fool them with flashes and sparks.

Of course, my opinion doesn't matter since I haven't played it. I'm just stating my reason for not playing it.

I'm happy that i bought the game, regardless that many people gave the game only 2 or 3 stars.
It feels like a mix of Fallout and Borderlands plus Serenity/Firefly :)
Just finished the first planet and took off with my ship.
And about the ship....alot of things remind on the Serenity from Firefly.
I think the best description is: It feels like a Borderlands game made by Fallout developers
It has the gameplay of Fallout, there aren't any doubts there. Tonally, I recognize elements from Star Wars (namely the space western elements) and, from what I hear, Firefly even though I've never seen that. Writing-wise, it's yet another brilliant Obsidian RPG, meaning that it's extremely well-written and realistic-feeling, where every one of your decisions has a consequence. I also do recognize some of the same atmosphere/tone from Borderlands, minus the over-the-top humor, as well as elements of Bioshock.

I'm not extremely far yet or anything, but those are the things I see the most of. So far, it's impressing me, I love everything about it and have yet to find any criticisms. I love GOG but the reviewers on this site.. they are sometimes overly critical and that can be very frustrating to deal with. I usually just look at game reviews for information on the length/size of the game (in terms of the amount of content), as well as any technical issues. I typically buy based upon whether or not a game LOOKS interesting to me because of how ridiculous our critic culture has gotten in modern society. Maybe I'm just easily impressed but yeah, I try to enjoy everything and find the good stuff even in products that are objectively bad overall.
