Games runs in Linux but needs some tweaking with WINE.

After installing you will need to install "mf-install" in order to get the game to play videos

https://github.com/z0z0z/mf-install

download the file and extract it, then open a terminal in the directory you extracted it to then do the following:

1. Ехроrt уоur Wіnе рrеfіх раth:

TERMINAL command >ехроrt WІNЕРRЕFІХ="/раth/tо/уоur/wіnе/рrеfіх"

2. Run thе іnѕtаll ѕсrірt:

./іnѕtаll-mf.ѕh

after this I had to disable ESYNC and the game ran with the only noticeable issues being some stuttering when first entering a new area but then ran fine.

Using Proton 5.0.9

OS: Manjaro 20.1.1 Mikah
Kernel: x86_64 Linux 5.8.11-1-MANJARO
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X Six-Core @ 12x 3.6GHz
GPU: Radeon RX 580 Series
RAM: 1413MiB / 16022MiB
So far, it is working for me as well, but I haven't played for long yet. I am using Wine 5.7-8 through Lutris, with mf-install as described above. Without it, the audio of the cut scenes still plays, but the screen is blank. In Lutris, ESYNC is disabled, and DXVK is enabled, by default - it works fine with the default settings. I also see some stuttering when first entering a new area.

Here are my system specs.

Ubuntu 18.04
Intel i7-2600K 3.4GHz
NVidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
16GB RAM

Typically, Unreal Engine games play well with Wine, so this isn't a surprise. It isn't unusual these days for in-game videos to require mf-install; many games are like this.

I'm glad this is finally off Epic exclusivity - I didn't want to deal with the hassle of using the crummy Epic launcher when things are so much easier with Steam or GOG, so I decided to wait. I was especially pleased that it came out on GOG and was on sale upon release. I hope that, in the future, publishers decide that Epic exclusivity isn't such a great idea. It would be interesting to find out how many people waited for a year rather than buy this game from Epic.

It's guaranteed money before the game is even released, most companies don't think twice, especially since the other customers will still be there a year later for the most part.
Same, but I'm waiting for the end of the Windows exclusivity :-)
I don't want to face the annoyance of using Wine when things are so much easier with a Native version, so I decided to wait.
But nothing is for sure...

Doesn't running it in Steam Proton give you something just as good as a native Linux version? I've even heard people say running games in Proton is often better than the native linux version in the rare cases where developers even have a Linux version

A game will generally run better if it is designed for the operating system it is used on.
But surprisingly, it's mostly Windows games that run better on Linux with Proton than on Windows without Proton, and so far nobody can explain why.

And I prefer to support GOG when possible, but yes I have opened an account on Steam, and I have a few AAA games that run on Proton.
But I prefer to spend my money on games that are native to my operating system.

I didn't buy "The Outer Worlds" I must even admit I forgot about it, I spent money on many other games waiting for a Linux version to arrive.
