So, I'm curious, since I played The Outer Worlds (base-game) in PC Game Pass, finished the base-game and all...

Do save games work between different PC versions of this game?

Will saves from Microsoft Store version work on GOG Version?
Will Saves from Microsoft Store work on Steam version?

Will saves from say Steam version work on GOG version?

To answer yes, look for where the save location is stored for either version and copy and paste it to the right folder. What those are sadly I can't help there. For me it wouldn't matter as where I saved I would end up making a new character anyway.
I just installed the GoG version after uninstalling my Epic copy. I had to nuke my old saves from the Epic launcher.
Can confirm saves work between EGS and Gamepass version, and vice versa. Cannot confirm on GOG version, but it should be as simple as finding the saved games directory through Google Fu and copy pasting.

It shouldn't automatically import your saves, because each version handles saves differently, to my understanding.
Concerning Game Pass Version to Epic Version:

First I copied my game pass save folders (_Local_ & numbers) into "Saved Games\The Outer Worlds".
The saves are shown in the loading menu but clicking a save game doesn't trigger to load.

The trick is to copy the content subfolders of the aforementioned into 'Saved Games\The Outer Worlds'.

Also one has to make sure not to copy the saves in an existing "Saved Games\The Outer Worlds Windows 10", because that is the game pass folder.

Then it works like a charm.

If one struggles, my order was:
1. Start the game, so the autosave is created (as an indicator, you're using the right folder).
2. Copy the Dat from _Local_ into 'Saved Games\The Outer Worlds' (needed or not, i don't know for sure).
3. Copy all subfolders from the number folder into 'Saved Games\The Outer Worlds'.
4. Start game and load an old save.

Hi there, just my two cents from 2024, maybe somebody needs it in the future:

Coming from "Played the normal Edition for free on PC / Xbox Game Pass" to "Bought the Spacer's Choice Edition on GOG and wanted to transfer my saves" - yes, it worked for me, despite having to different versions, one without DLC on the Gamepass and the complete edition on GOG and also different version number.

- Xbox Gamepass for PC safes in C:\Users\USER\Saved Games\The Outer Worlds Windows 10
- GOG saves in C:\Users\alexa\Saved Games\The Outer Worlds Spacers Choice

I only had one small hiccup, since just copying it from from Gamepass Xbox' folder to GOG doesnt work (or didn't work for me at least)

- I started the GOG version, started a new game and let it autosave and made a quicksave
- The GOG version made a subfolder (an alphanumeric gibberish) in beforementioned folder
- Then I copied the whole content of the Gamepass' version (it was about ten folders, alphanumeric stuff, also Autosave00, Autosave 01, Quicksave 00 and so on) as SUBfolders itno the alphanumeric folder the GOG version created

This worked for me - I could chose on any savegame in the game, it also showed what version of the game was.

I just double-checked - so far no problems and everything's there. Inventory, perks, skills. I read in some other posts that the skill tree or the faction status was kinda messed up.

Hope this helps anybody, and kudos to the programmers for making this possible!
