It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Downloaded the game today, no problems but now that the download has finished the game wont launch at all.

Tried using the shortcut on the desktop and going straight to the .exe folder and neither of these work.

Maybe a silly suggestion, but maybe try rebooting? Also what's your OS?
Yeah I've tried that and I've tried re-downloading it.

I'm on Windows Vista.
I suggest taking a look at the Steam forums, because they're more active at the moment. It's very unlikely that the problem is showing up only in the DRM-free version, there should be people there with the same problems.

I am having a similar problem and have tried several methods as suggested by the gog.com articles on resolving the issues (including but not limited to: compatibility, graphic drivers, screen resolution, firewall bypassing, administrative and full control options enabled) However, it seems that the core of the problem is in the screen size based on the error messages I receive in the file that records these errors.

06:58:58: Error: problem with SDL_SetVideoMode (400, 300): No matching GL pixel format available
06:58:58: Error: Unable to open screen surface.
06:58:58: Error: Init failed, could not load game

The first error changes depending on what resolution I have the setting at, but I have tried all resolution setting for the sake of elimination and there are no changes to the other two error messages.

I admit to not being a computer expert but everything I have is up to date, I even tried older drivers to see if perhaps updates didn't take certain situations into account

Could you run dxdiag and post it here?
How to:

1. Go to START
2. Click on "Run"
3. Write: dxdiag
4. Click "OK"
5. This information tells you what kind of graphic card you got.
6. Click on "save all infomation"

Does your card support OpenGL 2.0?

JudasIscariot: Does your card support OpenGL 2.0?
Yes it is, I forgot to check before, but once you told me, I went to a website to check my drivers (which are as up to date as possible) and it supports up to and including OpenGL 3.1. I also meet all other requirements in the requirements list. I have considered going back to an even older driver than before, but I don't think that's the best approach. I do know that others are experiencing similar issues with very different computers from mine, though still Windows 7, would that perhaps be part of it, I have already tried the administrative, compatability option.

Of course, all of the other Daedelic games work perfectly on my PC (I am a fan of them after all) and most of the more recent ones have the same requirements. That's why I am confused why this one doesn't work.

Please write our Support department via the support link for the game and include your DxDiag in the email and we'll do what we can to get you up and running. Thanks :D.
Bottom Line: Is it safe to download this game or not????

I heard there are some problems but a patch is coming Monday or Tuesday?

It seems that there's a small portion of players experiencing visual issues and troubles starting the game. Patch is coming soon, should go live this week or next at worse.
