I'm not sure if I actually remember, but I thought I had it running in Wine at some point. I should be able to try it out in the next few days.

In case you didn't know (and It doesn't help directly either) Chris Wild open-sourced the code on GitHub! The new engine does support Linux, but he only had a basic Mac/Win build going. Possibly something for the mobiles too.

Yes, I'm not a linux person. The build works under Windows, OSX, iOS, and Android. Cocos2dx supports Linux I believe but it's not something I would look at. I will have to move to a new system soon anyway as Cocos2dx is also now defunct.
