I'm stuck and it may be because of a bug.

You can see the image where this place is. The idea here is that, by overgrowing a green mushroom, you will be able to climb up the wall. However, no matter what I do, the mushroom glued to the wall never overgrows. The one that overgrows is ALWAYS the one to its left. In fact, the one you can see in the image used to be a violet mushroom (!?). This is not how it is supposed to be, right? Or is there a trick to overgrowing green mushrooms I'm missing?

Thanks in advance!

It's not a bug, just a common misunderstanding. The green mushrooms never grow big themselves, they make the violet ones grow. So you have to plant a violet one closest to the ledge instead of a green one.
