Am having a problem with the graphics specially with the items that you interact with or take just like the egg in the first chapter and the picture , diary in April’s room they don’t appear until I come close to them !

Does anybody have the same problem as mine and is there a solution for it ?

Open preferences.ini (located in the main folder of the game) and set:
bool_IsDoubleBuffer=0
bool_UseHardware=0
They are in [DirectX] section. That should do the trick

This is a problem with anti-alias not working correctly for TLJ. You need to disable it for this game (shown in steps below), or use software rendering as per the post above (the easiest solution). If that solution did not work and you want to use software rendering, there is another instance of the preferences.ini file. Type in your Windows Start - Run... (or Start Menu text box) the following line:
%appdata%\The Longest Journey
Press enter and you will find the preferences.ini file there. Edit it according to the other post.

To continue using hardware rendering (it's said to look better), follow the steps below if you are using an NVIDIA card:

1. (recommendation only) - Rename "Game.exe" to "TLJ.exe" or "The Longest Journey.exe" - the ".exe" part may not be shown, in that case, just look for Game and rename it without the .exe part. I recommend this because I have read that another game also uses the Game.exe profile that is already provided in the NVIDIA Control Panel. This will differentiate the two. If you are using XP, doing this will temporarily break your TLJ shortcuts (start menu and desktop). This is easy to fix, since Windows will ask where to look if the original file wasn't found. I think the default game install location is C:\GOG.com\The Longest Journey\

2. Open your NVIDIA Control Panel and adjust your 3D Settings.
a. If you are using "advanced 3D image settings", select "Manage 3D settings", then go to "Program Settings" tab.
b. If you are NOT using "advanced 3D image settings", select "Use my preference..." if it is not already selected, and move the slider all the way to Performance. Play your game, and remember to set it back to where it was when you are done. Skip all remaining steps.
c. If applicable, add your renamed exe (from step 1) to the list and go to step 3.
d. If you have not renamed your exe, get to the listing for Game.exe (you may need to un-checkmark the "Show only programs found on this computer" box before Game.exe is shown on this list.

3. These settings worked for me. I played it safe by turning off the following: Anisotropic filtering, FXAA, Antialiasing (all set to Off), and None for Antialiasing - Setting. I also turned off Texture filtering.

If you are using an ATI card or Intel Integrated, you'll have to search the net for how to turn antialiasing (AA) off, or go with software rendering.

You're all set. You should not have the same problem while running this game again. You will not need to repeat this process again unless 2.b applies.

I have previously searched (for several hours) for a way to keep anti-alias enabled (since the game looks ages better with it on, imo) but all tests and research was fruitless.
