I spotted only Vista, XP and Win 8 are supported. Has anyone had issues with The Longest Journey under Windows 7?

No issues here, running on win7 64-bit. I wonder why it says it's not supported.

Fixed links, since GOG changed the name of the subforum

Might be that compatibility is a bit spotty, so they can't guarantee Win7 compatibility.
As far as I know there are some other games that don't 'officially' have Win7/Win8 compatibility without giving too much trouble for most users.

I played it on Win 7 64b just a couple of weeks ago, and had no issue at all. (Except for the police station entrance, that is, but that is a general bug and nothing major anyway.)

I just finished another playthrough on Win 7 (32 bit, SP1; executable running in compatibility mode for Windows XP, SP2); except for the occasional crash after some cut-scenes - which can be skipped with ESC - I had no trouble at all.

None of the operating systems you mentioned supports "The Longest Journey". Only: Win 95, Win 98, Win ME, and Win 2000. If you are running Windows Vista, Win XP or Win 8, then you will need to put it into compatibility mode for Win 95.

Windows 7 is too new and it can only go back to Win XP - no good!

yes, def works on win7 (64bit) + nvidia graphic card, played it two times.

for me the police station-bug was fixed by starting a random video (loop) before i start the game. i used the windows media player, but maybe it works with every player.

when i use 'expand your desktop' to a second screen at my windows settings i can play it 16:9 and it dont really looks streched. u dont need a real second screen.

additionally (if u want) theres a german language pack, google it. but first u need to manually install the 1.61 patch for the game (google it too). manually means dont execute the patch-file, will not work with the gog version. unzip the exe-file and replace the game-files manually. than add the german language files, done.

sadly theres no chance to activate (force) antialaising for the game with my nvidia card, the background looks better, april too, but all the other characters will disappear, so no fun to play it. and switching on fxaa looks horrible.
but i saw somewere its maybe working with ati cards.

Regardless of what the "official" page might say, the game is in fact compatible with Win7 but it's a little iffy in places. Very likely you'll run into a crash issue when you first reach the police station. On these forums there's a post where you'll find a link to download a fix for that. I uploaded it, so look for posts by me.

If you're running an nVidia video card you will not be able to force any kind of Anti Aliasing or other modern graphics filters to improve the look of the game wtihout breaking something. You can do some tweaks if you're running an ATI card, though.

Bottom line: The game is perfectly playable from start to finish on Win7 with the exception of the one crash issue related to the police station, but there's a fix for that.
Hope this helps.

go to preferences.ini and use this setting to activate AA.

bool_UseHardware=1

make sure fxaa is activated in the control panel if your using an nvidia card.

The GOG and Steam versions of the game should run under Windows 7. For those having trouble there's a couple of tweaks listed at pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/The_Longest_Journey
