Changelog for Patch 5.3.0 / GOG-23 (Windows/Linux)/ GOG-31 (Mac) (added 30 June 2016):

- Adds German subtitles for Book Five
- Adds remastered English voice files for Books 1-4, fixing inconsistencies in volume and sound quality

As I understand it the patch has already been up and running on Steam since 02/02.

Do we really have to download the whole 10GB again? Couldn't you make the patch available as a separate download please?

The only place for finding this newest 5.4.1 update is within under the Linux section. The file doesn't show as being Linux. Can I confirm that this file is indeed for Windows ?

Yeah seems like it.

I'm using Adalias Fundamentals which gives me the downloader links directly on the gamepage and could download the windows version like that without problem.
But I'd guess the link from the normal downloader page would also be the new version. Beware, you need to download the whole thing again, there is no seperate patch.

GOG can only make an installer, with what's provided to them.
The alternative is use a store client like Galaxy, which automates the process, and does so file by file.
I don't want to use store clients, and the installers are my main reason for getting GOG releases.

Simple fact is, most games are using online store clients, and never even have installers, only GOG still provides them.
Sadly many devs give Steam preferential treatment, this one seems particularly late, for an update, but even after GOG gets the files, they are only ready for Galaxy. Then an installer must be made, manually. So we get it later, usually a few hours after Galaxy does.

This is suppoesed to be the "Final" definitive release, but as it's also the first console version, I doubt it.
Due to this "Final" status, only a full package has been provided, to GOG.
GOG would, and do make patches, when they get the changes, as a separate package.
They don't have the time, or money to spend, pulling them from the full set, they don't get paid extra, to provide installers.

Unless you have limits on your downloads, I don't actually recommend using any patches at all.
The risk of old unremoved files causing issues does exist, and I don't trust patching to deal with removal of unused files.
Much better, to remove the old game files, after checking where saves are, as some old games stored them in the game folder.
The Longest Journey. and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, both do this, but not Dreamfall Chapters.

Then install the game from scratch. Never install over the old files, or you risk the unwanted removals remaining.
The best installers will remove old files, GOG's aren't the best, but at least they do exist, a clean new install, is all they need.

Thanks for the reply, but I asked because data is danged expensive for me and I'd much rather download a 1Gb patch than a 10 Gb new install. Which then just gets updated to another new install a month or a year later.

I wish people would go back to finishing their products properly before releasing them so that you get everything you need off the bat.

I doubt GOG could have made a patch, even if they wanted to. This version uses a different version of the Unity engine, and therefore, they had to redo the entire game. As far as I know, there's no way to patch it.

If Red Thread Games had waited to release any part of the game until they had finished creating and tweaking everything to the point that the final version was finished, they would have made their Kickstarter backers wait four years before being able to play any part of the game. People would have gotten impatient with them and not believed them when they would say, "Hold on. We're almost done." "Yeah, right. We've heard that for four years now." would be the reply.

Also, this is not the "final", "complete" or "definitive edition", which will be released on or shortly before March 24, which is when the PS4 version will be released.

Would somebody do me a favor and list all of the Dreamfall Chapter updates (only for Windows) with the version number. I've got some of them where the files only show like "setup_dreamfall_chapters_32bit_2.12.0.19", so it doesn't show the version of 5.x.x. This is important because I'm trying to preserve the older versions in case I wanna use them again for certain features.

Like try it in this format:

GOG-9851 = 5.4.1 = 2.20.21.25

The oldest I have is 2.5.0.7, so you don't need to go further back than this, unless you want to, would be appreciated. Here's the ones I have:
