I just got this game and playing it on W7 64-bit. The game runs great for the most part, but I have a weird sound issue where there's a loud click/pop every few seconds. I've tried running in several compatibility modes, tried changing game preferences like HW acceleration, single/double buffer, audio device, etc. None of these seem to fix the problem.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

This is strange, but I think I found a solution. For some reason, raising/lowering the Sound Effects while loaded into the world doesn't do anything. But, if I lower the Sound Effects to zero while in the main menu, and then raise them back up again after loading into the world, the crackling issue is gone. Pretty strange..

Edit: I spoke too soon. Loading into another area breaks it again :(
