See there have been at least two, maybe more, updates on Steam since the build currently on GOG... I thought they said even though they removed the game, they were going to keep the GOG build updated?

Even back when GoG was still selling TLD, it was generally about 2 weeks behind other platforms in patches/updates.
Now that they're not making any money from the game, there's really no reason for them to put any more effort into updating it.

It was stated at the TLD forums that Hinterland has submitted the update to GoG.

I'm actually rather surprised that GoG and Hinterland even said they would keep the game updated here.

Hotfixed to v 1.44 just a few minutes ago

THe last time we had it updated was September, it's now almost Christmas.

So much for that two week thing too right?

I requested a refund from GOG (I already have/had it on Steam but prefer to have it here)... they were willing to give the refund, but also said that there were some issues they ran into in getting the update out... no idea what that could possibly mean... they said they were working with Hinterland to get it resolved... there's obviously no love from the devs for the GOG build, so it just feels like an orphaned step child... I'm gonna just bite the bullet and play it on Steam
This is their response to what I just asked about when they mentioned the 1.44 hotfix on Twitter on the Hinterland account:

"We're submitting the latest version to GoG. It's up to them to deploy it to players on their system. Usually they're pretty responsive but it can take a few days. We plan to keep the GoG version of the game up-to-date with the rest of our supported platforms."
@MCSurvivorman
Gog had it's last update in Sept because aside from the 4 nights event that was the last update. 1.37. It was live on GOG 6 days after Steam got it.

@ Everyone
It hasn't been more than a week for an update to go live here after it's posted to Steam. It was 2-3 days before it was removed from the store.

Yes GOG gets the updates within 24hrs of Steam from Hinterland. However blaming GOG for the delay without know what goes on to deploy the update is a little unfair.

I am pretty sure the GOG version will be on par with steam before the years end, if not by X-mas.

Actually, it was right at 2 weeks after the Steam release of V-1.3.7 before it was available here. I believe there's evidence of that over at Hinterland forums.

Steam Aug 29 Gog, Sept 6 from my records. And i still have an old save that i stopped usig when the update arrived and its dated the 7th. Who knows maybe it will be two weeks this time, i'm kust going with the numbers i have.
I stand corrected. I just went back to some old posts over at the Hinterland forum and I was a bit off.

The 1.3.7 version was, as you said, released at Steam on Aug. 29 and at GoG Sept. 6. Only 9 days.

The 1.3.5 versions was released at Steam on June 25 and at GoG July 6. Only 11 days.

I guess that shows me not to rely on my memory. LOL!

V-1.4.1 was released at Steam Dec. 17. Let's see how long it takes GoG to release the new version now, considering they don't sell the game anymore.
Based on past releases it should be a day or two after Christmas.
And then there's the 3 patches.

No worries. 9 days, more than a week. I'd of won on price is right though, haha.
Yeah 1.35 was rough. I think it was disappearing gear or missing containers? ML office. Something to that effect.

Hopefully we (GOG users) will be up and running before new years, obviously eariler would be great.

Maybe this grubbling from use users will move things along faster, especially as everyone is being pretty civil about it.

Concerning the three patches, the last one speciafically 1.44, I think that may cause a delay as it seems to be an ongoing issue they are still working on. (Hinterlands hotfix notes) So that may prolong the release for us.

Won't it be nice when we pass day 200(Game completion) have everything we need(No more updates) and we can just enjoy the wilderness, hunt and all that good stuff?

Cheers HawkDawg if we don't speak again before then, have a merry holidays!
Yea, the 1.4.4 patch may be some time in coming, even after the rest is available to us.

Interestingly enough, I also play Transport Fever and Urban Games just released an update to it. That update was released a day after Hinterland released 1.4.1 and the TPF update was available on Gog the next day after Steam.
Must be something about TLD that the GoG programmers have trouble with.

If we don't speak again before, have a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!
As someone who quickly grew disillusioned by Hinterland's support and communication concerning the GOG version of The Long Dark, I wonder if they even know about GOG's developer portal and its content delivery system.
Earlier this year, there was an official statement dispelling misconceptions about GOG's role when it comes to updates.

I'm willing to give them another chance and intend on re-purchasing The Long Dark, should the game finds its way back to GOG and consistent maintenance support is guaranteed. But as it stands now, that seems to be very improbable.

That adds a bit of a twist to the drama.
Hi, can we get any info about date of releasing the new update V1.44 on GOG?
The REDUX Ep 1 and 2 were released almost 10 days ago. I think so, as usual, we're left out in the cold, which is fitting considering the game we're talking about.

EDIT: Probably going to wind up re-buying it on Steam so at least it's up to date. Was considering it since GOG got snubbed from 4DoN.
