I have an ASUS G15AE gaming laptop (Basically a Ryzen 5700G paired with a 6700XT), and after watching this video showing Cold Steel 4 on an AMD chip & Nvidia 3060TI, I'm wondering if AMD graphics cards might perform not as well as Nvidia equivalents.

The AMD 6700XT should be about the equivalent of the 3060TI (well aside from raytracing where the 3060TI should thrash it).

Doing some rough comparisons with the maximum settings at FHD, the 3060TI would get ~94FPS as a minimum in Eryn Village while my 6700XT would be ~64FPS in the exact same place with the exact same options; it isn't bad on it's own, but it's still a significant decrease in performance over the 3060TI. Later on when testing 4K DSR settings on the linked video, my 6700XT manages to gain parity framewise with the 3060TI.

I also found that Cold Steel 1 & 2 performance on the 6700XT isn't really all that much better relative to 3 & 4. When running on the iGPU on the CPU, it's obvious that Cold Steel 1 & 2 run much better compared to running Cold Steel 3 & 4 on the iGPU (I can enable 4xAA on CS 1&2, but not 3&4 for example if I want over 60FPS normally); but I can't really increase the settings on the 6700XT with the older Cold Steel games so I run all 4 Cold Steel games at a QHD resoultion with 4xAA but need to disable PCSS.

To be clear, the 6700XT is still much faster than the iGPU, just not quite as much of an increase as I would expect.

To those that have AMD graphics cards how well does it run relative to the settings and locations in the video I linked?

Sorry I don't have an AMD card to test.

I've been doing 1440p on an nVidia 3080 on Linux. CS 3/4 do run slower at times than CS1/2 for me.

I don't have a save in Eryn right now. But in Raquel in CS4 at max settings 1440p and vsync off it does about 160fps. But it can bounce +/- 20 frames at times. But I'm pretty happy with it locked at 60.

I've attached a picture of my Raquel framerate (92FPS) and the settings I used (I assume you mean the maximum setting though I also increase the Draw Distance). The image is grainy as I resized and decreased colour depth on the screenshots in order to save space so that I can use GOG without using another image host.

Thanks anyway for posting your results!

I think so, except I did change the field of view back down to 45. I posted the settings.

I should of looked at the dates!, I found the same location (104FPS)

The 3080 is superior to the 6700XT in any case and so there are some titles where a difference of 60% would be expected (for example here Dying Light 2 is vastly faster on the 3080 vs 6700XT), so this may be one of those titles.

Argh and it's been a while since I've played Cold Steel 4 (I stopped at Chapter 2, so I haven't finished it myself) and so I'm currently going through the entire series (on Sky SC), and forgot that my picture of Raquel in the previous post above was a bit of a spoiler, sorry about that (removed it now).

It's OK. For what it's worth I got back to Eryn and the frame rate was not so stable there. It could range from 80-120 depending on where I walked.

That's fantastic performance with the stock QHD maximum setting. I'm getting down to 31 FPS, especially in this position overlooking the garden of flowers; otherwise I'm barely breaking 60FPS at other times.

Maybe it would be worth lowering some of the anti aliasing settings.

You are right about that being a slow location in Eryn. 67 FPS on the 3080.

Yeah, I normally run lower settings, I'm just being greedy for more (If I could just enable PCSS at 4xAA and have an in-game low of mid-50's in Isthmia Forest I would be content, though that might spur on more greed!).

I guess the purpose of this post was to find out how other AMD hardware users found the performance on Cold Steel; though your posts have been useful as well to get an idea how other Nvidia users fare.

I normally run something close to the maximum settings with some changes 2560x1440 @ 4xAA, Shadow Filtering High and Shadow Distance Normal, and Unlimited Draw distance; everything else I run with the maximum default. Shadow Distance doesn't really have much of an effect on performance, but reducing the distance to Normal allows for crisper shadows even if they don't extend as far into the horizon.

I still get down to about 54FPS in the same spot in Eryn, but that position as well as Isthmia Forest are among the worst locations (~53FPS in Isthmia Forest), so that is as bad as it will get in game pretty much.

EDIT: Oh thanks just saw you updated your post to include the same location. Wow, still a great result, but useful to know this particular place in Eryn also causes another GPU much pain :D
