I have an interest in grabbing this game, but I was told this is the first part in a trilogy. What I am interested in knowing is whether or not the other games in the trilogy will be released through GOG, and if it will be necessary to play the other games in the trilogy to get closure in the plot of this one.

Well, the 2nd & 3rd chapter are not yet translated to English, but I'm sure that at least 2nd will be released here as well. For the 3rd chapter, see this - http://steamcommunity.com/app/251150/discussions/0/35220315726513251/

Out of curiosity, is there any connection between the previous three games and these three? These are supposed to be really good, but so were the previous three. I knew of several people who don't play RPGs ever, who played through the whole trilogy on PSP. I missed out though as I was seriously burnt out on Japanese RPGs lol

From what I researched there's no connection. The previous 3 games in the Gagharv trilogy, are separate from the Trails series. The same goes for the 2 Dragon Slayer games.

You don't need to play the previous games to play the Trails games.
Thanks! I'd like to play those too, but at least I don't have to worry about missing them now :)
Have the developers given an indication as to how far along they are with the translation of the second half?
