(Edit) ---So apparently, the first time I boot up the game, for some reason, it resets back to the old 2017 file but if I close the game and it syncs with GOG again, it is where it should be. Weird considering my local copy should always be with me, and quite a hassle.

I played this game a little back in 2017, didn't make it far. Decided to come back to it Friday night. So I played it where I left off in 2017 and.....then Saturday, all my work from Friday was gone. I replayed it Saturday and now today....it is still resetting me back to 2017. There's few things I hate more than losing progress and redoing things, anyone know what the problem is? The game should be syncing to GOG to keep my data up to date but it doesn't seem to be doing a good job at all.

OK Forget my edit. It keeps screwing up my game saves every time I close the game. I've even tried to make my own manual backup of my saves by going into different locations where people say the save data is and none of it is ever up to date. This is very frustrating and I've wasted over an hour because of it. Is this a GOG issue or game issue? I was wanting to try to play it on Steam to see if it fixes it but....again...it only sees old data with 3+ hours of playtime missing
Have you tried turning off the sync on the gog settings? That will at least let you progress without worrying about gog messing with the saves.

I've never had this issue, and the sync saved my butt when my hard drive died. (I lost a lot of other game saves, but thankfully not ones that were synced). But I'm with you that losing progress is really painful. I won't come back to a game for years if I lose more than like an hour of progress and can't recover it somehow.
Are you sure the Save isn't being loaded from another location, rather than the default save folder?

Some games seem to save the game in two places, now, with a recent Galaxy update, the newly added one being preferred over the default location.

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\Applications\

I've had it where a game kept trying to load outdated saves from there, rather than the default location.

I met similar problem, so I disabled the galaxy cloud save, then solved. It seems I couldn't delete old saves in cloud.
