I would like to install this and play this game on an old Windows XP computer, but I do not know if I have to do any modifications to the GOG version. The computer is running Windows XP SP3 and has a Nvidia graphics card.

I think, it will run just fine.

My cousin tried on a Windows XP PC and it did NOT work.

GOG did a marvelous job getting this game to work without issues on modern systems. The original was extremely problematic. I have the game on a CD and even on Windows XP, the system it was made for, it had a lot of issues and you basically had to win a lottery in order to have the game work as it should. The slightest difference in hardware configuration could suddenly cause it to start crashing or behave weirdly. It worked fine on one PC, and it would crash whenever a menu or map opened on another etc.

So in this case, I'm fine with losing the XP compatibility for a game that actually works.
