The Executive – Patch Notes [1.0.1]
Dear Players,

First and foremost, we want to extend a heartfelt apology to everyone who experienced issues with cloud saves. We are gamers ourselves, so we fully understand how frustrating and disheartening it can be to lose progress after investing hours into the game. We have taken this issue very seriously, and after extensive investigation, we can now confidently say that the cloud save issue should be resolved.

This launch has been rougher than expected, and we deeply appreciate your patience and support as we worked to address these issues. Your time and dedication to The Executive mean the world to us, and we’re committed to ensuring the best experience possible moving forward.

Bug Fixes & Improvements

- Cloud Save – Cloud saves are now working properly, preventing loss of progress.
- Cash Display – Fixed a bug that caused cash values to be missing on non-standard resolutions.
- Large Office Unlock – Resolved an issue that prevented the large office from being unlocked.
- Endgame Reel – Resolved the issue that locked the timeline when a player had too many highlights within a year
- Endgame Reel – Fixed a bug that prevented the classic and cult movies icons from being properly displayed in the timeline
- Endgame Reel – Improved the timeline flow for a smoother experience.
- Staff "Ecstatic" icon – Fixed a bug that prevented the icon from being properly displayed
- Asian Fonts – The texts should now be properly displayed in the research window when running the game in Korean, Chinese or Japanese
- Ancillaries – Avocado and soda scores were swapped in ancillary movie items

Balancing

- Training RP Cost per month: Some players missed that training employee drains RP every month and were struggling to gain RP. Until we improve the UX to make it clearer, we significantly reduced the training RP costs.
- Loans: 2 loans options are now available during bankruptcy at every difficulty levels.

Visual Tweaks

- Billions abbreviation updated to G instead of B
- Fixed the couple genre icon missing in competitors movies

Quality-of-Life

- Added a warning to notify players when the game is nearing its conclusion... (Good news: we're hard at work on the highly requested Endless Mode. Stay tuned—it’s coming soon!)

Dear Movie Executives,
Thanks again to everyone who submitted bug reports on our Discord and shared their logs and saves with us. It helped us tremendously.

Here is today’s patch content:

Bug Fixes

- Bug with proposed release date:
In some rare occasions, players were able to select a release date before the end of the post production, which would leave the movie in a non released state forever. The issue has been fixed
- Bug with Self Marketing sometimes corrupting the game:
The issue was due to an overflow error corrupting the game and saves made after the error occurred. The issues has been fixed
- Experimental corrupted save fix:
We’ve implemented a fix to repair saves corrupted by the bug mentioned above. Please note that the movie which triggered the corruption will not earn any revenue. If the repair is successful, pressing play will display all the box office screens in a row for the movies that were affected by the corruption.

Balancing

- Tweeked the shiny premium 3rd party distributors config.
It should be more obvious now that they are the best choice.

The Executive – Endless Mode! – Patch Notes [1.0.3]
Thanks again for everyone’s support and patience, we worked around the clock this past 3 days to fix as many bugs as possible and cook The Endless Mode for you!
Here is today’s patch content:

Endless Mode!

Once you reach the end of the main story line, you can now choose to keep playing for as long as you like!

Please note that in this mode, historical news updates are disabled, competitor movies are now procedurally generated rather than based on real events, and although the talent pool for your casts won't evolve over time, it still offers thousands of options.

Bug Fixes

- Endgame Timeline

Various bugs were resolved. And added a way to skip the timeline just in case.

- Competition bugs

Some rival movies could be shown as having a similar genre as yours when they did not. The issue was fixed.

Balancing

- Reduced the small office price to 20M

We noticed that some of you were stuck in the tiny office too long, we hope this will make the early game feel less grindy.

- Reduced employees’ quit chance.

After a short break this weekend, we're back at it—working hard to improve The Executive!

Here is today’s patch content:

BUG FIX:

- Ambient sounds will no longer stop after a while.

QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS:

- New "View Trends" Button added to both the 3rd-party distributor selection screen and the self-distribution calendar for easier access.
- Improved Visual Feedback for the Premium Feature mechanic in the budget allocation screen. We realized this mechanic wasn’t as clear as it should be—this update brings it in the right direction, though there’s still more room for improvement.
- Franchise Creation Clarity: Updated tooltips to better explain the difference between IP and Franchise.

BALANCING:

- Increased RP gain for Small and Medium movies, making it easier to spend a bit early on if you’re eager to jump into bigger productions.
- Reduced Employee Quit Rate and increased the cooldown between demands from the same employee to 2 years, giving you more control over team management.

You asked, we listened! Auto-save is now available. At the end of each in-game year, your progress will be automatically saved, alternating between two dedicated slots to ensure extra security. No more lost progress—just smooth, uninterrupted decision-making!

- Resolved an issue where 3 themes (Aliens, Teenagers, Slasher) were not properly configured, affecting talent affinity calculations. Now, you can cast the perfect talent lineup to bring your slasher horror vision to life!

Dear Executives!

Today’s update focuses on mainly bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and balancing tweaks based on your feedback. Let’s dive in!

BUG FIX:

- Potential Softlock Fix – Resolved an issue where opening multiple UI screens in the same frame could cause a softlock, preventing interaction.
- Starting Loan Repayment – Paying off your loan early? Now, you’ll only be debited the remaining balance instead of the full loan amount.
- Premium Features Accounting Error – Premium features selected during production planning step were mistakenly charged twice—this has been fixed.
- Provisional Budget Estimate – Premium features are now accurately included in the film’s provisional budget at every production step.
- Box Office Performance Screen Fix – The clapperboard display now correctly includes premium feature costs in the final budget.
- Third-Party Distributor Duplication – Fixed a rare issue where players could receive duplicate deals from the same distributor.
- Achievement Fixes – Three achievements (Hit Film, Big Budget, and Marketing Guru) were previously unobtainable—they should now unlock correctly.


QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS:

- Box Office Results UI – We understand that seeing post-theatrical losses highlighted in bright red was frustrating, especially since relying on ancillary revenue for profitability is standard once you're past the early game. To provide clearer feedback on your film’s performance and ensure you don’t feel discouraged, we've added more granularity to the visuals. The color coding now aligns with other parts of the game, showing how much of your total spending (movie budget + marketing) still needs to be recouped. We hope this more positive presentation helps you better assess your Box Office performance!


BALANCING:

- A Twilight fan pointed out that Romance + Vampire was incorrectly considered a bad combo. They were right—this has been adjusted to reflect a more accurate synergy.

Attention, Executives!

Today’s update focuses on bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements to enhance your experience with our short term plans at the end of the patch note.

BUG FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS:

- Endless Mode Talent Pool: Previously, the available talent pool remained static, making selections feel repetitive. It now reshuffles regularly, keeping things fresh.
- Incident Windows: Incident windows could be skipped during their opening animation, causing players to miss crucial details if they clicked on HUD buttons at the wrong time. This has been fixed.
- Endgame Scoring Fix: Cult and classic movies are now correctly factored into the final score calculation.
- Minor Animation Adjustments


QUALITY OF LIFE ENHANCEMENTS:

- Cult & Classic Movies: Previously, players were only notified when a film achieved cult or classic status via a standard notification—too easy to miss! To give these moments the celebration they deserve, we now display a special window (with a fun cultural nod included).


SHORT-TERM ROADMAP
With (hopefully) the biggest bugs behind us, we’re now shifting our focus to major gameplay and content updates:

- Delayed Distribution Choice – You’ll soon be able to postpone selecting your film’s distribution type, giving you the flexibility to wait for the right employees to become available.
- More Production Incidents – We’re adding new incidents to ensure each playthrough feels unique and fresh.
- IP Marketplace – Building your own franchise is exciting, but what if you could acquire rights to your favorite books, video games, or mangas and turn them into blockbuster movie franchises?

We’re reviewing your feedback and suggestions to determine our next priorities.

MODDING SUPPORT
From the very beginning, we aimed to make the game fully moddable, and we’re now ready to bring that vision to life.

- Our first step will be enabling support for multiple mods from a dedicated folder.
- Followed by externalizing more game data and assets.
- Ultimately, we plan full Steam Workshop integration with easy-to-use modding tools.
