Hi,
I cant execute the game :(

When I try execute the game the window called "The Chaos Engine - Remastered" with 4 greyed options (File Options Window Help) will show up trying to load but winow stay as "Not Responding" and than it always stops with this error in popup window:
"The Chaos Engine - Remastered.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working corectly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

I tried:
- run it in compatibility mode for winXPsp3
- test it on two computers - one with Win7pro (x86) and second with win8pro (x86)
- redownload the setup
- (Yes I run the game as administrator)

...but nothing helps

Please can somebody help me to run the Chaos Engine?

Hi,

Have you tried updating the dotnet runtime stuff (cf. Z forum)? That might work. Otherwise try updating the DirectX runtime stuff as well. This might work.

I know this post is old, but the forum isn't exactly active. I have been having the exact same problem (Steam version though, not GoG) and I've looked all over for solutions to no avail. I was able to run the game on my old PC a few years ago, but when I went back to it recently on my new PC it wouldn't run. My first assumption was that it was a Windows 10 compatibility issue, but the OP in this thread mentions trying it on Win7/8 so I guess that's not it.

I've tried contacting the people who were in charge of the port, but no responses yet and my hopes aren't high. I'm just wondering if anyone has updates on this situation?

well to be honest I dont have any solution for you...
I solved the problem by buying the old Sega MegaDrive/Genesis with two controllers and actual game on cartridge for it because I love this game and I came across a sweet deal... but this is not a solution for remastered version :)

Later I bought new gaming desktop and on it it works without problems, but on my other computers it just doesnt work... and support from developer is none existing...

so only solution I can offer is to try and return the game in case it doesnt work, or stay away from BitMapBrothers new releases... :(
