Hi,

When the Director's Cut version of the Bard's Tale 4 was out, I installed it in my system and then the Update 1 patch. Several days ago I found that new version came (Update 2) and since there is still no patch for Update 2 (which is weird) I downloaded the entire game again. I uninstalled the earlier version and tried to install the latest version (setup_the_bards_tale_iv_directors_cut_update_2_(64bit)_(32950)). But a surprise waited for me.

When I clicked the setup.exe, installation screen popped up, but with a message: 'Path contains invalid character(s): ? Please change installation path in Options.' So I clicked Options and changed the path to 'C:\GOG Games\The BardsTale IV' and clicked Install. Then after ten seconds an error message popped up: 'The folder name cannot include any of the following characters: / : * ? " < > I' I clicked Ok and installation screen closed. I tried different path names with two different computers but no avail.

This is the second grave error I encountered with gog installation files in the last few weeks. First one was for Stygian with the latest version refuses to install with some checksum error (earlier versions was installed fine).

You can find the screenshots attached. I erased the earlier version, so I can't play Bard's Tale 4 right now which is pretty dissappointing.

So please solve this issue GoG. Main reason for buying games from GoG is for these standalone installers. I don't want to use another launcher for installing games.

GOG solved this failure already. You have to download the whole packet again now.
The working is setup_the_bards_tale_iv_directors_cut_update_2_(64bit)_(33232).
Yes, my problem was solved with the latest setup file (33232). Thank you very much.
