Bard's Tale 2 (REMASTERED)

I can not pass Dargoth's Tower "Death Snare". Ive tried over 20 times. I even used the online walkthrough. My problem is i keep running out of time. I have it mapped perfectly. Im able to recognize the hall spinners to either see the wall at the end, or the door at the other end.

I need a cheat code - GOD MODE - or something to get past this section. The entire game is dead in the water for me if I cant pass this section.

PLEASE HELP!!! PLEASE !!!!

Which version?

It is possible to just hack the needed segment of the Destiny Wand into your inventory, but the way to do that depends on which version you're playing. (In particular, the way you'd do this in the remaster is *very* different from how you'd do it in classic versions, and it's trickier in 8-bit versions (due to some light encryption) than in 16-bit versions.)

Also, if you have a Bard...make sure you have Watchwood Melody, spinners don't spin you, saves time.

To hack items in the remastered version:
* Back up your save first. (Always do this when fiddling with hex editors or similar programs!)
* Open your save file.
* Search for the name of an item that has the same length as the item yon want.
* Using the hex editor, change the name to the item you want. (Make sure you spell it correctly!)
* Load your save and you should now have the new item instead of the old.

(The easiest item to use is a different segment of the destiny wand; you should then be able to re-obtain the segment by going through the other snare again.)

Alternatively, get a Nospin Ring before attempting the snare.

Nospin Rings (called Nospen in some older versions) are dropped by enemies late in the game, but it turns out that you don't need to complete the death snare to explore the rest of the game. In fact, the only time the destiny wand segments are ever required is to reforge the wand so that you can fight the final boss; until you're ready to do that, you don't need to do any of the death snares. (It's usually convenient to do them when you encounter them, but if you can't, you can come back later.)

Worth noting (for anyone else stumbling across this thread in the future) that this advice is specific to the remaster; that song doesn't have that useful effect in the original. (Also, it's possible that using the legacy bard song option may disable that property of the song.)

I could have sworn I picked up a Nospin Ring early on in either the Tombs or Fanskar's castle playing the Apple IIGS version as a kid, but I could be remembering wrong as I haven't played BT2 in 20 years. Especially since I would buy one from Garth's at subsequent replays since the inventory was cumulative for all games.
Did they change it so this useful item was late game only?

I have a feeling you're mis-remembering, mainly because the Nospin Ring has a high index in the classic games, making it a late game item.

I believe it can only drop in the Grey Crypt or the Destiny Stone. The Grey Crypt is the easier place to farm for items like this, surprisingly; in classic BT2, Trap Zap still works there, and in the remaster, the Rogue's trap disarming abilities were greatly improved and simplified, to the point where a high enough level rogue (particularly one who starts with good dexterity) will can automatically disarm the traps. (Or, I believe the bard song that protects your party from traps also works on chest traps in the remaster, so you could play that as your non-combat song, while relying on items for light and healing.)
