With GOG having a 60% off promo I'm considering picking up Bard's Tale.

My concern is the controls for the 2004 Bard's Tale game. Some of the forum posts indicate the controls are clunky and that the PC version is just a port from the PS2 version.

I examined the reviews for BT on GOG and many of them played the ps2 version of the game and not the PC version.

I'd greatly appreciate the opinions of users who have played the PC version of the game.

I picked it up today but haven't played it yet, so I can't specifically answer your question... but does it really matter for $3.99? Support GOG. Buy it. :)

You raise a fair point. I'm all for supporting GOG. I just prefer to support them by buying games I will actually be able to enjoy.

I can't even customize my controls, a lot of the actions/keys are greyed out ;( :(, like the esc key and the mousewheel.

I got Bard's Tale on GOG a while ago, but couldn't play it (it doesn't work on Linux with Wine at least with my video card). But just recently I got a native Linux version on Humble Bundle (it's still on sale there). It's a great game! inXile know how to make an original RPG that's fun to play. Voice acting is especially notable there.

I didn't notice problems with controls, but there are some bugs (in the HB Linux version), but not controls related. I can't comment on the GOG Windows version, since I couldn't play it.

Thanks for the feedback shmerl. Were you playing with a mouse/keyboard or were you using a gamepad?

I know that I'm a bit late in responding, but from what little I remember playing of the demo, it seemed to control okay with a mouse and keyboard. Also, if you want to play this game with an Xbox controller, make sure to use Xinput Plus for this game.
