The game installs just fine with no issues whatsoever, but upon attempting to launch it, my anti-virus / anti-malware comes up stating that .../SCUMMVM/SPLASH.EXE SPYWARE.PASSWORDS and advises that it is malicious.

Is this happening for anyone else? I've never had this issue before, so is this probably safe to continue to run or is it best to quarantine it?

I've got Avast AV and SpyBot installed and none of them have detected a problem when running the game.

Running Vipre and it has not detected anything malicious.

Malwarebytes is flagging this for me as well. My first GOG purchase is not going so well...

This file is not part of the original release of The 7th Guest or ScummVM. From what I can tell it simply displays the Trilobyte splashscreen before scummvm is launched.

Uploading the file to virustotal (an online service that can run a file through 40 different antivirus softwares and display the result) yields only one positive, making it very likely that this is a false positive:

I submitted the file to Malwarebytes; they agree that this is likely a false positive and will fix in their next definition update.

I, too, am using Malwarebytes. Looking at the further comments, though, it seems this is a false positive. Do not let this taint any future purchases on GOG. This is my first issue with anything purchased from here, and it appears that it is not even remotely their fault. As soon as I post this, I'm going to just 'risk' it and ignore the warning. I appreciate your response and everyone's response! That is another great thing about GOG: overall a smaller forum community, but I've never not had a question answered.

COMODO detects it as Applic.Unsaf.Win32.Injector.ek

Which is annoying because it was automatically quarantined.

EDIT: After some hassle, I managed to unquarantine and make an exception for it.
