This fixes them all for me...running Win10x64 v1511, AMD R9 380 4G. All you have to do is find the ddraw.dll file in the game's root directory and either delete it or rename it (I used "ddraw.dllold".) This will cause the game to use the up-to-date ddraw.dll file in your system directory--cures all sound problems & OpenGL display problems (set using ddraw.ini.) You can still use the ddraw.ini file to configure the game--it's just that the ancient ddraw.dll that comes with the game is bypassed.

I was delighted this worked so well for me! Hope it helps if you are having problems!

Yes! This works perfectly for me as well.

Odd that a "system file" was included in the game directory. And not based upon "which system."

I suspect that this is a Windows 95 era DLL, and simply will not interface properly with more recent Windows versions and DirectX versions.

I wonder if anyone at Gog bothered to test-run the program? Because... I can't believe only you or I saw this issue. I'm pretty sure that every user on Vista or later is going to see the same result. (FYI, I'm running Win7-64)

Yes, sometimes when games initially ship they include system files like this that the developer knows will work properly *if* the user is running a certain OS version and a certain piece of hardware from a certain era, etc....;) It's one of the first things I look for when trying to get an older game to run properly under a much newer OS and so on--if I'm having trouble with an old game and I see similar system files present in the root game directory I will rename them...to try again. It's actually worked for me more times than not. Yes, I agree--GOG should include a "readme" for such files explaining why they are present and how to eliminate them when taking troubleshooting steps. Odd that they don't!
