I have download Tex Murphy Overseer and installed but when I try to launch it I get this error code. that I have attached a screen shot of. (this only appears when trying to launch it with the button saying )

When I click okay it exits the program and when I try to launch from start menu, desktop menu, or the exe. file in the folder that it was downloaded in, the program will open the background music will play for a minute or so and I will get to see an image of the sky, after that one minute the music will stop, the image will stay on the screen and nothing happens I have let it sit for 10 minutes without any change.

While the music is still playing if I press the space bar the music will stop but the image does not change.

If I press the window button to get me out of the program, and then go back to the program again it will come back and have the screen with all of the options new game, hit, and all that but the mouse will not move and it will not recognize any keyboard commands so it is frozen. I have un and reinstalled many times same thing happens every time. Please help I would like very much to finish off the series have played Mean Streets, Martian Memorandum, Under a Killing Moon, and Pandora Directive.

Right-click the shortcut, run it as an administrator.
Or try disabling UAC (User Account Control) completely and then run the game.

OR install it somewhere outside Program Files folder.

Thanks for the advice saving outside of the program files area or the UAC did make it so that when I launched the program or reinstalling it I no longer got the error message. I do however continue to freeze when launching the program even running as administrator by the right clicking.

Try disabling Aero and running in different compatibility modes.
I'm looking through forums but apparently there is no common cause for the issue.

actually never seen that error posted even with the original disks. overseer does not like any program running in the background, & dual core has caused some problems in the past. try msconfig & under advanced options click on boot & run one core to see if it makes a difference. you need to reboot machine after changing to one core or change it in bios.

I did see the post about the dual core problems with AMD, and saw the official report about how to go one core with them, thanks for letting me know how to go to one core with a Intel based chip, but I looked and I already was one core on my laptop. So here I am having what seems to be a dual core issue with just one core and I am thinking about calling the 10 dollars a loss and tossing my hands up in the air as buyer beware type of situation. First problem I have had with GOG though.

Edit: well I did have problems with Martian Memorandum as well but it was answered here by starting up in graphic setup mode to start the game and it works fine.
