FINALLY done all the re-encoding. The accelogo.vob works just fine for me.
One thing that doesn't work so fine, though better than nothing, is that before any dialogue choice options become available, the screen goes black. I can live with this, but it's a bit annoying. Is there anything that can be done about it?

the blank screen is normal, With the access.logo so you get a blue sky screen first before the overseer grey banner logo starts.
Nice to hear that someone is using my tools. If that is what you did.
The blue sky plays just fine for me as well, maybe you should try reencoding it. If it still doesn't work I can upload my version, but I'm holiday right now so it will have to wait until we get back home.

I've had to put the game on hold till you get back as I have problems at the chasm & cannot continue with it.
Longcat, I did indeed use your toolkit. Thanks so much. The game will run now, and so far so good, no problems except for the screen going black before any dialogue choices. I can put up with it, but it is a bit annoying.
I'm replaying The Pandora Directive first, then I'll tackle playing Overseer again.

Thanks a lot mate :D
Have you made any progress with this? We need the DVD version of the game!

It has been brought up multiple times, I think for now this is a dead project with GOG focusing on the EA releases. Hopefully it will get higher on their queue (if it even is in the first place) in the future.
Can somebody re-upload the tools again please!

Thanks :)

I bumped the Overseer thread in the general forum, didn't seem to generate much interest for the DVD version :(

Longcat: snip
Are the video files on the DVD in .VOB format or do you have to convert them first? I'd be OK with loading up the CD version of the game and playing the raw .VOB files on my PS3 while I play through the game on my laptop (this is what I did for the WCIV DVD) and it worked pretty good.

Edit - answered my own question, videos can just be renamed to .VOB with the handy tool provided by longcat. Many thanks, will play through this soon with GOG on a laptop and playing the videos on my PS3 w/ full screen picture and surround sound.

Thanks a ton for this post. I recently replayed all of UAKM and Pandora using Dosbox and didn't realize this one was going to be such a beast.

I had the same blank screen/frozen mouse/alt-tab and see it moved problem with my laptop as everyone else. Plugging in an external monitor seems to have solved that problem- which is how I was planning to play anyhow.

EDIT: See next post for my current problems. /EDIT

But I'm having another problem. I converted the video files to VOBs->AVIs->MPEG and put them back the way they came. Made the .iso of the new DVD just like was said. I couldn't get the 1.4 Overseer.exe to work, but the one from the disc works. So I copied it back over the c:\overseer\overseer.exe and it's working better.

I'm not seeing any video. The opening conversation with Chelsee is just dialog prompts on a black screen. It's probably because I'm not using the right MPEG Decoder, but it only offers me the option of 4: Standard, Creative Labs, Quadrant Cinemaster I & II. Don't see the other one on there at all.

Then it loads Tex's office and everything there seems okay, except that I instantly get an error to the tune of "No error code for this error". Don't know what that's about. Should there be a texture outside of Tex's office?

I have no music, and there's only one MIDI option. Any ideas on that?

Any help?

Thanks in advance.
