Hi yall, im tired of the steam community being so bad for terraria. I posted on forums and got 1 out of 4 people who was willing to play the game and not be a satanist or grief the map. I know the GOG community is better. But is there anyone who would actually play? Just sending this out there to see if its worth migrating my files from steam over to the GOG version.
Don't they use the same files, regardless? Terraria puts its worlds and characters in My Documents\My Games\Terraria. I can use both the Steam and the GOG clients alternatively and they stay in sync because the data is in the same place.

I hear you. This week I've been actively looking to build a solid group who wants to play Terraria, yet I find that Steam is not the place to look.

A couple years ago I discovered how to run my own server, and just today I learned how to use Tshock for server administration. It is incredible, much more than vanilla.

Anyway, I host my own little servers for fun, but I want to host one just for the group.

If anyone wants to create a group, I'm game. I have a Discord server that sits idle because I've not found a group yet.

Thoughts?

Yeah steam is not the place to look. Like 90% of terraria players on steam are little kids with potato pcs who will lag out constantly. I cant stand it. I am now up to 6 people i added recently to play mods with on the steam version. None of which im all too thrilled with.

Where is all the grown ups?!!

Tshock is ok, but not needed if you get a group of people. And i am way into these mods through the steam version at the moment. Thorium and Calamity mods for terraria add alot. Plus there is max stacks that makes stacks 9999 to save chest space which is a huge help. Just having alot of fun with the mods right now :)

The reason I wanted Tshock is that it offers more fine control over in-game events. Also, it's a thing of mine about learning to run dedicated servers. The learning process is what draws me to it. I've worked in IT for many years, and I love learning things which require that particular mindset.

Yeah ok, i dont play on dedicated servers. The game is fine how it is for me just to play with other people is enough. I dont care for tshock because people always abuse it and overspawn bosses making the farm extremely easy to accomplish. Kind of takes the fun out of it for me. In game events happen at random or by summon items. I dont see a need for tshock other than protecting the house from destructive griefers who happen across your build.

My apologies, I didn't realize you disliked Tshock or dedicated servers that much.

I'll be on my way, then. Good luck in your search.
