I have the feeling the story line is not actually varied, I don't particularly wish to replay it to find out because it was very slow especially the transition pieces.
It just seemed the choices were meant more to antagonize a type of response in a reverse psychology sort of way.
For example playing a dominant chuvinist pig, the protagonist ends up being feminized after being kept chaste.
Oh and you can't agree with her and be rational or temperate.
I ended up kind of expecting violent responses would end in a pacifist outcome, but it ended up being funneled it seems.

Anyways I got the triple win harem ending; where you've bedded both main characters, your wife ends up happy, the man ends up happy and the sociopathic raging feminist is put in her place; possibly as a vegetable I guess. Ending wasn't too clear she just took a blow to the back of the head and then the husband and wife were holding her talking about how her eyes flutter.
Just as a small FYI, if you click the bottom of the screen during a video (including a "room transition"), you get a video progress bar which you can manipulate. Essentially, a few clicks let you bypass all of those super tedious scenes.

Now about this thread's actual subject...

In the ending that I got, Michael killed Kathryn, Allison reverted to her passive state and Michael became semi-crazy and was arrested.

So... not a happy ending, for anyone.

I can't even begin to explain how my choices would lead to an ending like that. I was relatively nice to Kathryn in my test answers, but she gets killed?

Going through the game a second time would be fairly quick given that you can skip nearly everything, but a lot of scenes have slightly different variants. The scene where Kathryn shows off for Michael at the beginning, for example, has three different versions. Sometimes the differences are very minor, such as Michael requesting a sponge bath or Kathryn offering one, where in the "neutral" scene neither of them attempts to flirt. You wouldn't know about these differences if you didn't rewatch every video...

...or simply went through them in the game files.

I got the ending where the Nurse hits michael in the head with a hammer, kills him then it ends with the nurse telling Allison basically a story she made up for them to tell to the police.
You can skip all transition videos automatically by clicking camera on the map screen.

Must say I got sorta immersed and tried to always answer all questions possibly most honest and also got the ending where Kathryn ended up paralyzed as their new "daughter". I found most of the stories, articles and other texts which might feel kinda random are often insights into later events (or possible events). Like there was one story or journal entry about some girl paralyzed from neck below after accident, so I believe that what happened with Kathryn in that kinda creepy ending.

Don't see a point in replaying though as I'm not even sure what are the answer patterns for different outcomes. Maybe just see other endings somewhere out of curiosity.
Having savefile from near the end (after Kathryn caused Michael's breakdown by blaming him for killing Jody) I played around a bit and managed to get most endings just by answering as usual for different quiz sets. It seems to be really quite random and subtle as I was usually answering in seemingly the same manner and got different results.

Anyway here are all possible endings with corresponding video files:

!!!HEAVY SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY!!!

1. Michael kills Kathryn, buries her in garden and Allison returns to her apathetic state which seems to please Michael.

2. Same as in "1" but later dr. Turner arrives and reveals Michael's insanity. Michael gets arrested by police for murder and Allison is taken to hospital. This is by far the longest ending and only one with John Hurt so I believe maybe this supposed to be "canon" ending (matches nicely opening video too). Also I would say closest thing to "good ending" we can get.

3. Same as in "1" but at night they both hear Jody's voice meaning now both are nuts and share the same illusion.

4. That one I got originally. Michael knocks down Kathryn and they keep her paralyzed as "Jody".

5. Kathryn kills Michael and continues her "therapy" with Allison, encouraging her more into illusion.

6. Kathryn falls down the stairs during struggle with Allison over Jody-doll. Then Kathryn is taken by ambulance and Michael happily returns to taking care of his delusional wife.

7. Same as in "6" but now they both live in illusion.

8. Same as in "6" but instead of calling ambulance they keep now paralyzed Kathryn as "Jody".

Interesting thing about VTS_16_1_V10C01 clip is that it's not clear whether Michael actually believes that Kathryn is Jody or it's his intentional revenge on her. I guess both versions are equally true depending which you prefer.

(Tried posting this as a new thread, but it wouldn't let me. Just testing to see if this works.)

Just played through the game and I'm a bit unsatisfied with certain aspects of the story. Especially after looking at videos of all the possible endings, and seeing that none of them are particularly "happy."

Anyway, I was hoping they would answer the question of who poisoned the dog. Since we follow Michael throughout the story, I didn't think it was him. Kathryn seemed the most obvious choice, but the trail leading all the way to her room felt way too sloppy. It made me think Allison must have been responsible for framing her, but I don't see how that would make sense, unless she was lying about some part of her condition.

Speaking of which, I was almost waiting for another psychological twist, like maybe Allison didn't exist, and Dr. Turner actually sent Kathryn there to take care of Michael. I thought maybe he ended up killing both Jody and Allison in the accident and was in severe denial (much like Allison). That would have been a cool ending.

As far as the accident, they accuse Michael of being at fault, and seeing how much alcohol he consumes in the game, I assumed maybe he was driving under the influence. But that was another thing that never got resolved.

I don't really understand how all the tests you take change your experience of the game. Apparently you're supposed to get a psychological profile in the game based on all the questions you answer, but this was omitted in the GOG version for some reason. That makes the whole purpose of the gameplay feel EXTREMELY pointless.

Finally, I really wish there was an option to let Kathryn carry out the rest of her treatment as she saw fit. I hated the fact that Michael was trying to stop her at all times. I mean, he had the best of both possible worlds there; two beautiful women willing to sleep with him. All he had to do was let Kathryn finish carrying out the rest of the plan and eventually expose Allison to the truth. That would have been the most satisfying ending possible.

Anyway, despite all that, I enjoyed playing the game as an FMV fan. But it doesn't feel like there's enough there to get me to replay it. I actually ended up watching the movie version afterwards to see if there was anything I missed, but I pretty much got the same ending I played (which was Michael killing Kathryn and ending up going to jail...again, a deeply depressing and unsatisfying result).
