i have a dvd video version of this that can be played with any dvd player, can still walk around the house, look at everything and do the tests, (controlling with your tv remote) dont think its any different that the cd/dvd rom versions. I remember being a few different endings but nothing radically different changed for me after a few play throughs. a slightly altered scene here and there, thats it.

oh yeh this is the version i got years ago https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tender-Loving-Care-DVD-NTSC/dp/B00000IMD4/ref=tmm_dvd_title_1?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=

looks like there's also a 2nd version which isn't even interactive!

So yeah if you really want this it seems like the dvd video version is fairly easy to get hold of, just get that for the better video quality, just be careful to actually get the interactive version!

I just bought this, I can't believe the low quality video - I should have looked at this forum first (not a huge deal @ $1.49, but it would be great if someone could get a higher quality video coded - would x264 be usable? That's really efficient for BluRay video.

Also, how does the audio quality compare on the original DVD and CD versions? The GOG version has low quality average 72kbps OGG files. If the originals are in lossless formats, it should be easily converted to 500kbps OGG or even flac if we can mod the game to play them.

So far Silver83 is trying to make a better version but he is missing an original English DVD version to do this for both German and English versions. So if you should know somebody who still has the English DVD version please contact Silver83. Without the source material there is no way that this will get better. Seeing the pics posted by Silver83 I have to say that I am really interested to get this quality of the game as well.

I managed to find some links to the supposed English DVD-ROM. I'll PM them to him.

I'm going to see if I can upgrade the audio files.

Edit: Dang, it was the DVD-Video version, which doesn't include any of the audio files.

It's a shame they couldn't have included the original PC-DVD version. However, that version is a bitch to get running properly on Windows 8 and 10, and I'm assuming that's why they haven't. I've had some success with using old versions of dgVoodoo, but it's going to be problematic until dgVoodoo supports video overlays properly or Microsoft fixes the problem of running natively (I'm not holding my breath).

The original CD version works fine, but the video quality sucks.

They could have done what Silver83 did. Take the IOS version and mis it with the (converted) videos of the DVD version.
So, does anyone here have access to the DVD-Rom version?
Man, I wish I had read this before buying the game. This is ridiculous. The game looks like a smear on my laptop at full screen...and why would you play an FMV game any other way? Come on, GOG.

If GOG won't put pressure on the dev/pub to deliver the video files, hopefully someone can get them to Silver83.

It actually looks quite a bit better than the original CD release.

Since the CD quality is terrible this is not really an achievement ;) Also ist does look a lot worse than the DVD release - and that is the point.

Well my point is...it could have been a whole hell of a lot worse.

Only real complaints I have with it are the no psych evaluation at the end like the original pc, and they cut out the option to basically watch the whole movie portion of what you played through after ending the game.
About the profile: ok, the complete profile is missing and it's been a delusion for me. But it has been defined as "multiple pages of wishy-washy generalities reminiscent of Astrology columns". So maybe that would have been a bigger delusion.

Meh.

By the way, in the film there is extra footage for the ending and the beginning also. This video is awfully dubbed in Italian but it's the only one I could find on Youtube.

came here from first starting the game thinking there was an option for proper full screen and better video......... disappointed. seems to be a bit better once youre in the house but the long outside panning scenes are godawful. ah well, heres to hoping for better upgrade down the road.
