Hi everyone,
I'm posting to report my experience getting it working on VMware Fusion running Windows 7 as a guest OS with Mac OSX 10.8.2 as the host OS.
The installer went through fine but trying to run the game resulted in a short pause, after which the application quit immediately. No error messages, nothing. Immediate CTD.
The solution was simply that I hadn't installed VMWare Tools and therefore although 3D hardware acceleration was turned on for the VM the correct SVGA driver was missing -- only the "standard VGA graphics adapter".
Installing VMWare tools solved it completely (the game looks lovely BTW!).
Searching the forums didn't seem to report anyone with a similar problem so I thought I'd put it here for future reference. Perhaps nobody else uses VMs without reading anything about the software but if there are any other such foolhardy people out there, I hope this helps!
