So I killed Zuggtmoy, a cinematic played... and then I'm deposited back to my party.

Now all of a sudden there is a "passage to Verbonc". Wonderful, but I thought the game ends when you kill Zuggtmoy?

Did I miss something?

I have the latest Circle of Eight Mod Pack installed.

The original game ends with you killing Zug.
But you have Co8 new content installed that enables you to keep on playing.

You can get the new missions by asking for "something different" from the smith in the first village.
You can also talk to the same smith to end the game.

Jarmo:
Ah ok, so HE ends the game. Is there added content in Verbonc or is it just there as an extra town with merchants?

I stumbled into Zugg and never really figured out who or what she is/was. I was kind of lost the entire game.

Before and after Verbobonc, plenty of stuff to do.
The added content starts with trivial 1st level stuff and ends with impossibly tough fights, much tougher than Zuggo.

I did all of the quests Smythe sent me off. It ended with a fight with a drow party.

There are quests that start from Verbonc?

Oh, now I remember.
Yes, there's a town hall you get new missions from, and might be some other place as well.

How hard was this game compared to other party based games like Icewind Dale, Baldurs Gate, Avernum, Avadon? I had very little trouble with bg and Avadon but icewind dale was a little tricky.

I played Pool of Radiance (remake) and thought it was a lot easier than ToEE. Difficulty-wise I would describe BG/Icewind/Avernum in the joke category compared... to TOEE.

It's mostly a very different experience.
You really need to figure out attack of opportunity rules and such and play tactically.
But it's also turn based, so you're not overwhelmed by stuff happening around.

I found BG to be brutal and ended up cheating, while both IW Dales were manageable.
All of these early ones are way harder than NWN 1 or 2 anyway.

Really? I guess it depends on the user. I found Baldurs Gate to be one of the easiest games out there as you can get any godly equipment to make your char awesome and solo the game with your character. Then again Im better at solo games.

Icewind Dale I never completed as it wasn't very interesting compared to Bg. Planescape was easy to get through combat but just figuring stuff out was tedious and not worth replaying. Icewind Dale I probably wont play through either as there's no replayability and it lacks a good story like bg. That's about it for infinity engine games for me as Im picky with them.

Avernum Escape from the Pit was brutal and I am on my 3rd character and again is one of those games where you can lose if you don't make wise decisions.

If you think TOEE is hard, try knights of the chalice, another d and d turnbased games. It gives you a good reason why realtime works much better in crpgs for d and d world. While Icewind Dale isn't my fav, there's still a chance I would try and complete it. TOEE and KOTC, probably wont get through the game.
