I have started the game with the -window feature on the command line. If I don't do this, the game just crashes to the desktop. When I do use the windows feature, in my display setup I get "null" for adapter and also "null" for resolution, so I can't change it.

I have used Co8 and without with same circumstances. Anyone know how to stop this null business and give me control of the adapter and resolution I use? Help appreciated
Open up your toee.cfg file in Notepad and change these entries to the following, particularly video_adapter:

video_adapter=0
video_width=1024
video_height=768

Thanks for answering...

unfortunately setting that stuff manually in the toee.cfg file doesn't fix it. I still have to run -window mode for the game to start. And then of course, it just runs in window which sucks too. Any other ideas?

Since you changed the settings, do you still get the 'null' entry in the video adapter in-game?

Yeah, I still get the "null" setting for both video adapter and also resolution. Maybe I have a setting in the registry that it won't update. It's too bad because I would like to try Co8 8.0

I'm not sure where the problem lies, but the fact that the game is not seeing your adapter is why you have this issue.
I am also having this problem.. this is a fresh clean install from GOG. no mods

I am running
Intel core 2 duo 2.7Ghz
4 gigs DDR 3 mem
Nvidia mother board chip set ( 6100 series if I recall )
Nvidia 240 GT video card with 1Gig mem

I keep all my drivers up to date as much as possible.

at first when I try to launch it crashes with out putting anything on the screen.. then I came acrossed this post and added the -window and well it launches but most of the video settings are (null) and when I try to change ones that is not (null) the game locks up.

Sorry to revive this in 2020 Lol. I was searching for a solution to this problem too, then I resolved it simply by adding “window=1” to the last line of ToEE.cfg. Hope this helps others who encounter the samevproblem with modern rigs.
