Crashes at the end of the loading bar - but not in the same place others have experienced. For me it always quits when it gets to the "Loading protos (clearing old...)" part.

The game worked fine for me (mostly) until I added the Co8 mod. Then I got it to play a couple of times. But then it started crashing. I fiddled for a while, and got it to run again, but on bringing up the map it crashed again and now has returned to crashing while loading protos.

Win 8.1 64bit

I've disabled my antivirus, and added the folder to the exclusions list (Avast)
I'm running as admin
I'm running in Win 7 compatibility mode, because that's what seemed to work the few times it's worked
I'm tried with intro videos both enabled and disabled
I disabled display scaling
I tried replacing the temple.dll file as posted in another thread - no effect so I put back the old one

Anyone else have this issue?

I'm actually enjoying the game, would love to see it work!

This is outside of my good working knowledge, but I have heard of people have troubles if they install Co8 before running ToEE vanilla at least once. So be sure you do that.

I've had weird install glitches and bugs and happen with this game that go away when I reinstall it. So that is often a recommendation that I give. Redownload the installer. And then reinstall.

Those are all of my ideas.
I've couldn't get CoE running past the front-end, until I disabled scaling and set it to Windows XP compatibility. I also ran the vanilla version before installing the modpack.

Update: Nevermind, the game no longer works (without me modifying anything). I *hate* Windows 8. Most of my GoG games no longer play at all.

Just a heads up was tinkering with my computer and when I was trying to play the game I had the same exact issue. I fiddled with the program shortcut and tried using a graphics processor selector. I found that my game was trying to use my built-in graphic processor rather then my nvidia. Once I started using my nvidia processor game worked perfectly.
