I ran into the "Item transfer error" bug and can't play due to this.

I read that this is addressed in a patch. So I went here: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/ToEE/index_misc.php and downloaded all patches, but they can't find the game. I even tried placing the patch in the install folder.

Any ideas how to work around this?

PS
GoG should release all games FULLY PATCHED!!!

you need to install co8 mode not other patches
OKay, thanks. I googled, and came up with "Co8 Mod Pack 4.0.0". Is that the latest version?

Hi,

the latest version (to date) is 5.9.2. You can find it here. Hope you enjoy it!
Whoa! Looks like they have even added a bunch of content! Is that so? Does it ruin the original experience/story at all?

Thank god I ran into this bug early on, I see I have to start a new game!

Thanks for the link, will have to install it when I get home today.

I downloaded the current Co8 Mod from the link you suggested, however it's installation instructions says to install both patch 1 and patch 2, so I downloaded the patches from the links provided by them.

Patch one says it can not find TOEE English anywhere and promptly closes.

So who is right....do I need the patch(es) or do I not?

Some people have had success just installing the CO8 mod without any other patching eg

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm off to attempt to install Co8 (And if I get it to work then the Keep On The Borderlands mod as well for nostalgia reasons)

That link you provided seems to suggest that the game is already patched up to patch 3.
@Filthgrinder:

Yes, they've added some content to the game which (imho) blends in seamlessly. I'm not sure if the new locations were originally part of the Greyhawk campaign-setting, but I found them (or at least the ones I've visited) quite well done. One of the new areas provides an alternative to the quests one could do in Hommlet. By visiting it, you can level up by engaging in combat, rather than fedex-ing around town. (I've done both though.. the more XP the merrier is what I always think).

@Monitor2112:

The GOG version of ToEE is indeed patched to version 3. There is a way to un-patch it back to version 2, though it didn't work for me. I've had some trouble getting the game to run, as had a few others. Right now though, I'm playing it both patched to version 3 and with the Co8 mod installed. This thread and this thread might be of help, should you encounter trouble.
Okay, it installed fine, but the installation instructions say nothing about the Front-End-X that starts up after.

Do I activate the module, or just play the game like normal?

Yes, you need to Activate the module, then wait patiently until it's done.
This is horrorbul.

Is there no way to get pre-equipped characters like before?

I had to activate the "original" game, and then write down their equipment, just to go back to the damn mod and equip them accordingly.

And then 3 of them DIE in the first damn encounter with the caravan! None of them could hit any of the enemys. Just miss, miss, miss....did they do something to the difficulty?

I was wondering this myself. When I played the game without the mod, it DID seem easier.
