I have the C08 mod in
but cant figure out how to choose a specialist wizard anyone can help?

Answered in the other thread, but shortly again: use the features button on the character creation screen, by default the game selects none, you have to go back to that bit manually and pick your specialised and excluded schools.

specialisations are available to all races (unlike in 2nd edition)
