Where are the best links for how to create a good party?

Haven't played this game in a LONG time, and love these old turn based games much better than the new ME2 type games of today, thanks for all the advice!

Thanks yet again!

For a five hero party i suggest:

Fighter. A straight up tank in a tin can.

Barbarian. Half-orc with good all round stats i like multiclassing them to a Ranger or Rogue.

Cleric of Pelor. A guy solo'd the game with this class so now i don't leave Hommlet without them.

Sorceror. Good with a few rogue levels.

Druid or wizard.

If i am playing through as Lawful Good i always pick a paladin as party leader and diplomatic face of the group. They are great for chatting to irate bugbears and evil guys who live in the basement cupboards of old moathouses.
There's some pretty good discussion on it here:

There's also a walkthrough that goes over character creation and provides some sample parties here:

I just recently finished with a party of 6:

Elf Rogue
Human Cleric of Heironeous
Human Cleric of Pelor
Human Sorcerer
Human Wizard
Dwarf Fighter

Just make sure you have high scores in their primary stats (high DEX is a good idea as well). I also took Improved Initiative for all my characters, and it seemed to work out really well. In almost every battle, the majority of my party acted first.

There's in interesting party creation guide Here as well.

*edit* Oh, and it's a really good idea to have one of your characters dedicated to crafting items.

Were you using an NPC? If not, how did you get a party of six?

The Co8 patch allows you to change the maximum party size to anywhere between 3 and 8.

I have version 6.0 of the mod installed, but I don't see how to do that and haven't uncovered any instructions on doing it. Can you point me to some?

In the front-end, there is an options menu at the top. There you will find options for party size, level cap, max HP on level up, etc.
