So with Co8 7.0 released, I decided to have another go at this. I actually already had a party going on and all, but then there was this thread about paladins in NWN side and then and then... and now I'm in welkwood bog with a paladin I'm soon going to multiclass to cleric and then keep adding clerical levels.

Seeing as a solo Paladin needs primarily.. every damn stat there is, it took about a 50 rerolls to come up with something remotely satisfactory. 16 STR and WIS, going no lower than 12 for INT and CON. Yay!

The beginning was a bit depressing already. The opening mission with 3 robbers having a go at the caravan... was the death of me. Second go and dead again, but then luck prevailed.

Got killed by the spiders at Deklo grove as well, but won the rematch and gained a level.

Welkwood, got gutted by the kobolds time and again. Learned something new as well, pays off to 5 foot step away from the enemy before slashing them. Then attack of opportunity as they approach. Glaive FTW.

Had to go back for a bit of rest after that though, caught Furnok cheating and gained the 3rd level. All cleric after this...

---
Easy fight against 30 goblins now, you ask? Not so much but the eventual victory was satisfying indeed. Onward!

Around moathouse now, that death screen is getting to be a very familiar sight.
But it's not as impossible as I'd have thought, a particular bright spot was being able to destroy undead instead of just turning them.

A this point, having simply stayed a pure paladin would be more effective... and I'm not sure that's going to change. But here we go and the cleric buffs and summons will help out here and there. And more to the point, I want some badass enchanted weapons later on..

Why didn't you start directly as a cleric?

I finished the game with a solo cleric last week. I died a lot at the first battles, but by the time I got to the moathouse it started to feel like a stroll in the park. Those buffs are really handy.

Martial weapon proficiencies, immunity to fear and diseases, add charisma modifier to saving throws, better attack skills.
Oh I dont know if it goes even closeto balancing out being 3 levels lower as a cleric, but the main point is I wanted to. ;)

Anyway, moathouse cleared!
It is getting easier, the two last big fights werent at all harder than the ones before.
Argghhh!

Emery meadows was a walk in the park except of one big fella I just couldn't tackle. Went to Nulb instead, but then noticed I've fallen at some point. Damn these paladins just fall all the time in this game. Must have insulted someone or something, dunno.

I don't have an old enough save, so... guess that's that for this run. :/
Oh well... it's not like I didn't have half finished games in BG1 and IWD2 to go back to.
(Nevermind Portal 2 and Witcher 2 which I really should try to finish one of these days.)
Attention span of a demented leprachaun, that's me...

Why give up?

You can atone for your "sins". Visit Terjon and he'll remove your fallen status. For a generous donation, of course. And next time, make sure you don't mingle with the shady characters. Don't do quests for evil npcs.

Also, yes, the hill giant is a bit of a challenge. Just level up some more and come back for him later.
