Hi all,
Finally got around playing ..and i love the base game. Addictive. And the music is just awesome. Wondering how the 2nd DLC is?. Dont see any reviews on GOG,,,,
I haven't played through most of the new content, but it does add some interesting things to the base game. For example:
* Whips can hit multiple enemies like axes. When I played it, whips were underpowered (except for one legendary weapon that is re-classified as a whip if the DLC is installed), but according to the patch notes, that's been fixed, and they did seem to have somewhat higher attack power than when I previously played it.
* Wraps are really nice, and they really do make martial arts capable of competing with other weapons in the long ron. In fact, a good wrap can even carry you into Savage World without having to level up high rank weapons (which can get quite tricky, especially if Legend of Shara is installed).
* Some of the new properties are quite useful. Hydrating, for example, will make your flask heal more HP, while Bubble gives you temporary HP if your health falls below half (and works nicely as an early warning sign).
* There are new areas, with enemies that scale to your level and unique gimmicks, like having mud that teleports you in the first such dungeon. (Because these scale to your level, these should provide a decent challenge at any level. In fact, if you have good non-wrap equipment, these dungeons might actually be easier at lower levels.)
* Beating the first of these new dungeons gives you a special Dragon Limit. There will be a meter that starts empty (IIRC) and slowly fills up. Once it fills up, you can use a Dragon Limit skill. (I don't remember if you have to use it right away or if you can save it for later.) These skills are extremely powerful; the first one is like a stronger Wild Horse that *also* restores a quarter of your health.
* Once you've cleared one of these dungeons, you get the ability to trade items for other random items in a 3:1 ratio. However, doing so also makes the gimmicks occasionally appear in item dreams.
