Just bought the game, but I get no sound at all.
I have Windows 10 and have tried different compability modes.
?
Okay, I solved it by myself. If someone else get the problem, it was because I hade HDMI sound turned on since my laptop is connected to a HDMI input on a TV. I removed the laptop from the TV using only the laptop sound and it worked fine.
This sholud however be fixed.

It could be that the game ignores that setting. Try deactivating all sound devices you don't use or firstr try to set the device you WANT to use as default windows device.
I am using a TV as a monitor and cannot just unplug my PC from it. All the other games I have from GoG are great and work; just not Tales of Monkey Island. Sound used to work on a different PC. I have fiddled with the sound settings and contacted GoG for some input on what I am doing wrong.

The game uses the sound device which in Windows is set as default sound device.

Have you tried to deactivate all sound devices you don't want to use?

Same problems regardless of what I do. If the game loads in a tiny dosbox window there is sound. Going full screen kills the sound and it won't come back regardless of what I do, even revering to a small window, the sound is gone. I have to restart the game in a small dosbox window I cannot see very well for sound and the same old problems come back when trying to go full screen. I believe going full screen is the issue. Why sound does not work after going to a full screen is beyond me.

If it's deactivated it can't be used.

What game are you talking about? TOMI is not a DOS game, does not run in DOSBox.

Yes, it sounds strange. Looks like your system switches sound card when you go to fullscreen. Sounds more like a Windows third party software issue rather than a issue with the game.
I had TOMI runnin on PC and Laptop, both with standard sound output and HDMI and it always worked fine, even with multiple sound cards active.

I can only repeat myself: Deactivate the sound devices you don't want to use. What's not there, can not be used by Windows.
If you don't want to do that, try a software named sound switch.

That lets you define a hotkey to cycle through the available sound cards.

your advice is the same in the last 3 posts and it never works! and TOMI opens in a DOSbox on my PC, as a defalt. it does not open any other way.

You repeat something that's nonsense.

First: TOMI doesn't use DOSBOX, it's a windows application. Only DOS applications can use DOSBox. TOMI would not even run in DOSBox, which only supports 16 bit DOS applications.
https://www.dosbox.com/

Second: Three posts before I didn't mention SoundSwitch

Third: If you have only one soundcard active, it can't use another, that's just impossible.

Conclusion: You didn't follow the instructions and did not deactivate the unused soundcards.

1. Try to reset TOMIs options, delete these files:
%userprofile%\Documents\Telltale Games\Tales of Monkey Island 1\prefs.prop
%userprofile%\Documents\Telltale Games\Tales of Monkey Island 2\prefs.prop
%userprofile%\Documents\Telltale Games\Tales of Monkey Island 3\prefs.prop
%userprofile%\Documents\Telltale Games\Tales of Monkey Island 4\prefs.prop
%userprofile%\Documents\Telltale Games\Tales of Monkey Island 5\prefs.prop

2. Post a screenshot of your sound settings and of sound switch, like the two I posted here.

Btw, where exactly in the game launcher did you choose the sound card?
