It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

So after my old computer turned to junk, reinstalling TOME after a year on this new computer will not let me load a saved game. Obviously there was a cloud sync problem.
But when I "log in", I can see detailed reports of my character, including, apparently, the last battle she was in -- everything seems to be saved!
Is there a way I can generate a saved game from this?
Is there a way I can use this character in a game and "continue" with her?

Otherwise, I don't understand the purpose of saving the character at all

Any tips appreciated, please not too technical, I am not computer saavy
thanks for the help!

Depending on things, there could be things such as incompatibilities; could you maybe hit the toggle that says, "Show for older versions"?

If you're logged in when playing, then character/game info will be uploaded but a gamesave contains (and needs) more information, like maps of your current and previously visited areas.

If you can still access data from your old system (even if only by connecting your hard disk/SSD using a USB adaptor or something similar), then you should find your saved games in the %USERPROFILE%\T-Engine\4.0\tome\save\\<your character name>\ folder - copying this across to your new PC should allow you to resume play with that character.

If you consider saved games important, don't rely on cloud saves - use an automated backup system or better yet, file versioning (where each time a file changes, a new copy is taken but all previous versions are stored also) and have those backups made to a different drive. Aphar Backup (Dutch webpage but prgram runs in English) is my recommendation here (simple, minimalist but limited in the number of folders it can backup - having game save files in a single folder using NTFS junctions to link to their original locations can work around this). AutoVer, Yadis Backup and the commercial FileHamster are other options to consider.
