After completing the first episode, the game presented some statistics to me saying X% of players made this choice Y% of players made that choice and so on.

My question is: does the GoG-Version of 'Tales from the Borderlands' collect data for it's company and if so, how to disable it?

I haven't installed it yet, but if there's nothing in the ToS shown during the installation*, there shouldn't be any data collection happening. Because "laws and stuff". They might include their own ToS or privacy policy in the game's installation folder, so that would be a place to check.

If you're playing through GOG Galaxy, it would be at least imaginable that that data comes from the GOG servers. Alternatively it's possible (but not likely) that the game only accesses the Telltale Games servers to read data, but not to submit it without your consent (i.e. clicking a "Submit/Compare" button within the game).

The only surefire way I could think of right now would be to blacklist the server** that is accessed via your router's blacklist - or to turn off your internet while the game is running.

Either way, like yourself I would also be highly interested in how to disable such a... feature and I'm sure I'm not alone. If you find out, please let us know.

* I have yet to see a GOG installer that shows more that the legal stuff for the GOG installer itself.
** Probably not telltale[dot]com but rather something like ttgcdn[dot]com.

I'm not playing with galaxy. There is no additional legal document found in the installation folder besides the GoG-EULA. I did some testing though and found out, that player statistics only show up when I have an active internet connection. In that case the game also suggests to sign up for a telltale account so "I can look up even more of my stats online". It seems likely that a telltale account is required to identify individual users but it's still possible that an unregistered game collects anonymous data.

I haven't found any useful information on the web yet. Not even for the non-GoG-version. So if anyone has insight on the topic please share it :)
